Romi and John: What a beautiful doggie! I think he will adjust just fine...Our Josephine loves every dog she meets for the most part, so I'm sure Scrappy's adjustment period will be very short lived, if needed at all! Hopefully your other dogs will love him too...instantaneously, or in a very short time!
I'm not so good at the name game. Seems like all the dogs around these parts get MN people names. Two neighbors just got new puppies -- one has a golden lab named "Gunnar" (think that's a little Norwegian?), and the other has a golden retriever named "Eddie" (for Eddie Bauer, because the breeders last name was Bauer?-- go figure!). Anyway, beautiful fun dogs... Now Josephine makes a bee line for one house or the other as soon as we go out the door. She knows those two little guys need the rough and tumble puppy play, and she loves to give it! The youngest (just 7 weeks old) will sometimes walk under her and look for a "spigot" though, forgetting she's just a playmate! Hope I can capture some of it on film before too long... it's fun to watch, and well-supervised by proud parents on all sides so no-ones getting hurt! But enough on that...
I agree on a simple name, not so hard to say. Given the exuberant nature of the Kai dogs, I do see where the name Scrappy might have fit, but perhaps now that he's a bit older and more sedate...
Anyway, I like the concepts behind Kibou or Yasu....(Who could go wrong with a dog named for hope or peace!)!!!
tsukitsune & Leonberger: I no longer feel like a dork for being a closet turtles fan! We (me, my bro-in-law & sis) recently resurrected the movies for my niece and nephews...
There's a great Akira Kurosawa movie called "Kagemusha" (Shadow Warrior). It's where they take a look-alike of an old Feaudal Lord who died prematurely and buy time by replacing him with a lookalike, but the lookalike is kinder and more benevolent. Besides, "Kage" would go good with "Ninja"

But out of your choices, Kazu is my fave
Whichever name you choose will be a great name for a Kai-Ken!
Jessica - totally agree on the expressive eyes!
Congrats Romi!! Scrappy looks amazing!
