Wow, the big guy is SO big! I still can't get over how tall and big he is.

I like the pic of him and Kahuna...looks like they are plotting something....
  • edited November -1
I love how him being on his back can send any of the dogs about 2 feet away while he playfully "kicks out". I'm sure Kona and Kahuna realized that when they tried to sniff his goods.

ahahahaha just watched the latest video - when he gets up and shakes the dirt off of him - sand storm!
    He's a beautiful guardian.

Do his ears throw you off at all? Like, are they hard to get used to?
  • edited November -1
Thanx all! I have been trying to get pics of him w/ some scenic background - he is hard to take pics of because he is so busy running all around.

Jen - You know, his ears don't bother me at all. His head [and whole body] is so fluffy you don't notice his ears being cropped. Every now and then you pet his head and feel his ears and you are like "oh yea, his ears are cropped."... I'll ask Jen if they bother her.

Luytiy is just amazing. He has the most gentle eyes. I love the latest video of him rolling in the dirt. :)

He is just such as beautiful dog! He takes my breath away.

Awww - he is so cute! Nice Spam! Luytiy and Masha are going to be wonderful additions to the Anderson Pack!
  • edited November -1
So when should I come by to pick them up? They're both just utterly gorgeous.

He just takes my breath away! I love him...but who cant love an Anderson dog??
  • edited November -1
Figured it was time for a Luytiy update...

    ----

As of last night Luytiy has started doing something that is typical of some of the LGD breeds. He has started "roaring" every night at the Coyote when they start their evening howling. It's pretty loud and intimidating, I'm sure our neighbors have no idea what it is. From inside the house it almost sounds like a hound's bark but once you get outside it really does sound more like a roar. It's pretty cool - and loud!

    ----

We have also uped his calorie intake so he can started putting some weight on, since he is over a year old it's safe for him to be at his full weight now. I tried to take some pics to show his weight gain, but I dunno if you can tell - but here they are anyway...

*He is growing his undercoat back now too, he had blown his coat right before we picked him up.

    ----

We also got his new crate:

No joke, I think a donkey could fit in this crate - it's freaking HUGE!

Oh I spied Ahi! How is she???????? She looks so little next to Luytiy.
  • edited November -1
Ahi is recovering really well actually - I was waiting to give an update till we speak with the surgeon again this week. I'll keep you posted. :o)
  • edited November -1
Awww hope Ahi is doing well <3! And she looks TINY next to Big L!! :) What a beast!

You can most definitely see the difference in the pictures. Mainly in his waist / area.

So LGD blow coat? I thought they were regular shedders..."The more you know!"

So I guess L is a cross between a bear, a wolf, & a lion lol I want to hear the Luytiy Roar :p ~

Just saw the earlier videos, just too cute! ~

    He's so gorgeous! And Gynormous!
  • edited November -1
Hmmm, that roar sounds awesome. I second Osy, I want to hear it too!

Do you know what the dimensions of that crate are? IIRC, you once posted a pic where Jen was sitting in Ahi's crate with her, I wonder what she'd look like in that thing. ;-)
  • edited November -1
Lol that crate is bigger than our studio :P
  • edited November -1
we need a video of the roar!
  • edited November -1
I will try to get video of the roar, he was doing it last night and when I got out there w/ the camera he stopped and came inside. :o\

    I'll keep trying.

Oh, Also, I meant to update you guys on this too...

    Training BIG L...

He was very difficult to get to listen and understand what we wanted. It took us 4 days to get him to sit, but once he learned it he does it 99% of the time and will even offer the behavior for treats and stuff. He also has learned down, and he has a pretty amazing recall too! :o)

    ----
  • edited November -1
Brad, you're comparing his recall to nihon ken. I think a deaf dog would appear to have pretty amazing recall compared to a nihon ken. :-P

    Seriously though, that's great!
  • edited November -1
    LOL - good point Dave!
  • edited November -1
    HAHAHAA
    Recall....shiba...????
YAY Big L! Cant wait for the video!
  • edited November -1
Love the pics --- especially that one with the moutains in the background is amazing!

Now, I know that Jen would just rattle around in that crate, so don't make her do it!!! LOL

Thanks for keeping us informed, and sounds like Luytiy will do a fabulous job of at least drowning out the coyote voices (and probably scaring the devil out of them!!!)... Can't wait to hear the full sound when you can catch on the video cam...
  • edited November -1
Here is an attempt to get the "roar" on video... It's not the best example but it does show the "houndish" sound to his "roar". I will try to get a better example this week.

We had a lot of Coyote activity last night.

*Note big tough Kaia gets in on the act too. lol

Go Kaia, Scare away those Coyote!
  • edited November -1
    LMAO Big time!!

I swear Kaia is a T-Rex in a Shiba body!

    Luytyi's roar/howl is pretty impressive!
  • edited November -1
That is impressive. I bet you can hear that in the mountains at night. Awesome!
  • edited November -1
    LMAO - Kaia is a "T-Rex in a Shiba body"! That's funny!

She reminds me of that cat post where it shows the difference between a cat's thoughts and a dog's thoughts... only she would be the cat. lol.

She just lays on the back of the couch all day plotting her take over.

    CAT DIARY:

Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre

    little dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed

hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the

rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to

keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps

m e going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once

    again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet.

I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly

demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made

condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was

placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I

could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement

was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means, and

how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my

tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this

again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs!

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.

The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released -- and

seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with the

guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors

have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is

    safe. For now...
