Sweet crate cover!

edited December 2008 in Products & DIY
So...I have to say, I am very excited to come home from work today because I was able to (gently) persuade Pam (a.k.a. "Ryu" on the forum) to do a crate cover for my Ichi.

I also had an ulterior motive to get Ichi named as one of her products at Bark and Giggle boutique but nevertheless Pam endured my demands and created a wonderful crate cover out of some Japanese Noren fabric.

Here's the before and after. Sorry I have to type this in a rush but I have to run off and pick up my partner. I'll post more feedback about this later.

P.S. Ichi hates me at the moment.

    Pretty, Ichi is so cute!

LOL. Why would Ichi hate? I mean you only took away his 360 degree view. ;-)

    Looks great!

It's not fully up quite yet, but it won't be much longer....hint, hint Pam.

    Hey Dave,
He actually had beach towels covering his crate until I was able to get that cover from Pam. She was kind enough to indulge me because I knew I was definitely going to get a crate cover for Ichi's crate (among other dog supplies).

So, I've thanked Pam plenty but this is my official public "THANK YOU" to Pam for giving me exactly the crate cover I wanted (dual entrance to boot).

    *blushing* Thanks everyone!

I really have to thank Jesse for being UBER-patient while I designed it and put it together. I'm so glad you like it Jesse!

As for the site, I promise to have it up and running soon! It's looking like mid- to end of January for the grand opening. I'm getting very excited!

I need to hire Brandon to take some amazing pictures for me! lol

    Pam's being kind,
I didn't have to be patient. Pam was fast and turned it around in a reasonable amount of time for me. We started talking in mid-November. As I've told her (over and over again), I understand how professional craftsmen work, I follow their usual motto, "It's done when it's done". So despite the fact we had a few, "Hey what do you think of this? I dunno, what do you think of this?" and, "Put it on the top right! no bottom right!! wait no, no, no, top right! Final answer!" (which I think was super funny), Pam was very accommodating.

And as an update, Ichi got over the new crate cover :) I had to drag his crate out to the middle of the living room to take the pictures which explains his freaked out looks at his misplaced home, it's now back in its usual place against the counter wall.

I'm very excited about this, but I've got a question due to the one time devious act by the lovely Jazz...

Is there anything on it (velcro straps, ties) that attach it to the crate, like on the bottom?

    Hey LJ,
The crate cover is pretty top heavy because the brown canvas like fabric pretty much allows it to keep its form. My particular request from Pam was that she make my crate cover have a dual access (front and side). I didn't care too much about having the need to fasten it to the crate (knock on wood). Though in hindsight, it probably wouldn't have been a bad idea to put grommets at the bottom of the crate to allow for ties. Oh well, that ensures her next crate cover will be better:).

    Very cool cover!

Off topic: Is it just me or is there a thing going on where brands just name whatever they want to make people see as top of the line as "HD". Just remembered that because of the "Titan HD", I'm not saying this particular case has anything to do with it, but I seem to be noticing that more and more.

It's just so easy because HD stands for a lot of things these days:

"Heavy Duty" (automotive industry uses it for tagging their diesel trucks)

"High Definition" (What isn't labeled High Def these days?)

I think I'll have a request for either grommets or a simple velcro loop tabs at the bottom.

Hey guys! Sorry, we threw a HUGE Christmas party last night so I wasn't on the forum. Anyway, I didn't have the foresight to make Ichi's cover with the fasteners but after Chloe's debacle, I will definitely have to incorporate them! I was thinking more of a grommet style than velcro because I know Ryu can peel velcro from inside a crate. I will do some more R&D before the opening hehe.

Again, thanks for the compliments! :D
