SPAM: Bandit - Pomchi [update 5/14]

edited May 2009 in Other Breeds
We picked him up today, he was very good! He sat in my lap and slept the whole time except when he got threw up (construction area) and when he had to use the potty and barked to tell us. : )

We also gave him a bath because he got himself nasty on the way over when he got ill. : ) He's so sweet. We named him Bandit instead of Gizmo because it seemed to fit him better. Sorry for the picture quality, gotta mess with the settings again! He's exhausted and just flopped over and started sleeping! image

He's so freaking cute. My little cousins have a Shitpoo named Bandit. Sorry to hear about the puking in the car, my aunt's old dog did that when we picked him up. He turned out to be one of the best dog's ever to exsist so maybe it's a good sign. Keep the spam coming.

Wow been such a long day : )
Been trying to bond with Bandit, my bro keeps trying to steal him :P Its hard since I'm doing all the training and stuff and my bro just will come and be like nah, you don't have to listen to her. come play with me! lol.
    : )

I'm working on house-training and getting him to survive for more than 1 second alone. He is fine as long as someone is in the room, otherwise he yelp-barks.

He is so cute, I just want to nibble on his paws.

Cute little squirt. I bet he's given you the run around, lol.
A little fluff ball of energy, no wonder he's difficult to photograph.

Are you able to get and post some videos of him? That would be awesome if you could.

He is such a tiny little ball of fluff! :) So cute.
Congrats! (sorry that I am a bit late on that!)

Hahah yeah he's crazy. It's been almost impossible to get him to listen. I swear he's part shiba. He figured out how to climb his kennel within minutes of being put in it and doesn't like to listen at all. :P Might be his age though, 8 weeks is a little early to expect him to have any attention span. :P

    He's exasperatingly cute. : )
his back paws are tinier than the front paws.

I've been perusing forums for help, but does anyone have potty training/ etc. advice for an 8 week old puppy?

Every inside dog I have had I put on a schedule, I wrote down the times I fed and allowed water, then I wrote down the times they did what business, #1 and #2. After a while you see a pattern, so you can predict when what movement will happen. I got this advice from a book call House train any dog...I think that is the name of it. I had it YEARS ago when my family got a German Shepherd but the same process worked for both of my Shibas. Also if you can't supervise him, put him in his kennel. Meaning if you have to go do school work, or clean the house or whatever and can't keep an eye on him, put him in his kennel. He will be less likely to have an accident in his kennel which he should consider his "cave".

    Hope this helps.

Thanks! THat makes a lot of sense!

I would also cut off water at say, 8pm-ish if we were going to bed at 10pm-ish. That way their little puppy bladders wouldn't be to full at bedtime. Not anymore though since they are grown up.

timing is everything, for the first few months i had my shibas pee/poop schedule down. that strategy and shibas being naturally clean helped me avoid puppy accidents.
  • edited November -1
Yeah we cut off his water last night and he was great. : )
He's been mproving with the schedule

    Vet Update:

Bandit is healthy and got his second shots today. He weighs in at 3lbs. He did very well. The only thing that really REALLY bothered me was that the vet was insistent on Eukanuba, Iams, and Science Diet and said that my "boutique" foods were a waste and didn't give dogs right nutrition. Since the larger companies have been making food longer, as well as owning their own factories, she says they know better than the other foods. I kinda got pissed. She also gave cheesewiz to my puppy when she gave it a shot >: O. I don't even eat that crap!! :O

Idk. What do you guys think?
