Tough Plush Toys

edited February 2011 in Products & DIY
Anyone try one of those plush dog toys meant for heavy chewers? I've seen ones with "tuffet" technology and ones with "chewguard" technology. I haven't tried any of them, but I was wondering if anyone has tried plush toys that really do stand up to tough dogs. At least for a while. I mean, I know they're not indestructible but I'd like something I can get some mileage out of.

I'm mainly looking at this website but if you know of any others, feel free to suggest!

  • The "Tuffies" stuff lasts me quite a while. I never get anything lower than a 7. Unfortunately, the 7 and higher ups are usually more basic designs. The more elaborate they are, the lower the rating for durability.

  • I got Panda a water bottle cruncher one that she loved and it lasted quite a long time.
  • I have a couple with the chew guard. We have had it a year now and they still have not been able to tear it up. Everything else has a short life around here.
  • Rei and Sage have enjoyed those chewguard dragons for a quite a while before busting them in a tug o war. I still let them play with the dragons even after they destuff, and I wedge other toys (like Sage's yellow football) inside the dragon skins. We also find that the stuff by Hugglehounds (dumb name) lasts a long time- we especially like the Seatbelt spider. My guys dont like the ultimate Tuff stuff somuch- its not soft & bunchy enough- too firm, Iguess. Rei still hasnt ripped the hugglehounds rabbit I got her for christmas, tho she DID kill the squeaker.
