Shibamistress: I agree, really I think that somewhere along the way quite possibly some Hokkaido genes slipped in way back when and is carried in some of the Shiba lines. No proof though that I know of unless there was some way to differentiate via DNA or other genetic marker of some sort.
Thank you for the comments! Comparing to other Japanese breed, I think Hokkaido has the most puppy-looking face. Maybe, that's because of their roundish face : )
