She's finally here! Kai Puppy
I have waited years for the right time and opportunity to get one of these amazing dogs! I was on Marsha from Mijikai Kennels waiting list for like 3-4 years, and finally sent her a message a couple months ago that I was ready and would love to know when she thought she might have a litter again, so she fowarded my info to Rita, who had Flyer, who just had a litter of pups out of Pam at Royal Kennels stud Player. And to my surprise I now have a beautiful little Kai, it happened so fast, but I couldn't ask for better timing!
So I have a few pictures I took , though they aren't the best, I'm no professional! But I am saving up for a new camera.
Here she is at 7 weeks....
Now at 9 weeks.....
And here she is at nap time the other day....
She is 10 weeks old today and doing GREAT! She got microchipped earlier in the week. She did have a minor heart murmur when I got her but when we took her in the other day it was gone. She's absolutley brilliant! She knows sit, lay down, roll over, and we're working on stay. I'm thinking about enrolling her in puppy classes sometime this month.
Oh! I do have one delima though....she has NO NAME yet! I never thought it would be so difficult. So far we have been thinking about maybe "Mika" or "Kyoko" though I'm still not sure. I want something pretty and unique, but also simple. Does anyone have any ideas?

As for names, of the two you have in mind I like "Mika". I agree a simple name is best... my kids thought it should be just one syllable in the ideal for a doggie to have good recall. Don't know if that is true!
How about Leila? No reason for the name... it just came to mind...
Puppy class will be great Saya loved playing with the different puppies.
I have heard this before with several Kai pups where vets have said they have heart murmurs and they do not. I wonder if this is just how they develop or if vets just mess up.
I think she is precious! I saw the pics of the litter when Rita posted them. Flyer and Player are both amazing looking Kais. Congratulations!!!! I like Mika as a name. :-)
Congrats!

Heart murmurs are a puppy thing. The vets aren't wrong...a lot of puppy are born with a very soft grade 1 heart murmur that usually goes away by 3-4 months of age. I can't tell you why some puppies have it and some don't, but my vet mentioned that it's a genetic thing, and most all puppies grow out of it. The lady I board my horse with breeds dogs (Golden Retrievers, Daschunds, Bernese Mountain Dogs, and Newfoundlands), and sometimes a puppy will have a heart murmur (she offers to take the puppy back for a full refund if the vet finds even a slight murmur), even though it could be gone by the next week. lol
I wonder where her other 4 sisters are....
I'm looking into finding a trainer to work with Mika (other than the trainer lady at petsmart..who is actually pretty good), who can help train her to do different things like tracking and agility, as well as basic obedience. It's turning out to be harder than I though..
