edited September 2010 in Akita (秋田犬)
I trying to figure out what kind of food is best for JA. Does anyone have any information on which company makes most compatible food for JA.

  • We fed our 4 Acana and they did great on it. They also did well on RAW.
  • The JA we share our home with adores RAW. Has very healthy stool. And never farts!
  • Acana is pretty good food. I feed Bella wellness core and wellness core ocean as a rotation no store nears me sells acana. =\

Saya my shiba inu eats a raw diet I do it yourself type raw and Saya is wonderful good coat, never farted except when she had her first taste of marrow, but she now doesn't fart when I give her marrow..

Her teeth are great on raw with kibble Saya's teeth started to get tarter with raw it's helping her.
  • I don't know if I can handle RAW diet right now. Any other information on other type of diet would be really helpful.
  • My JA is also on grain free Acana, and he does great on it!
  • Sorry to bring back an old thread, but after researching food choices for my 8-9week JA, I was considering acana. After looking up their website I realized there were many choices. Brad, would you chime in? Thanks
  • Pick something 4-5 stars from here: http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/ and check if its available in your area. I also recommend no wheat, corn, soy, or chicken.

We currently feed Canidae Grain Free PURE Sea. We've also fed various lamb and rice or sweet potato based formulas from different brands.
  • Thanks! Appreciate it!
  • I use Honest Kitchen dehydrated food and mix Acana kibble. My dog loves it!
