Hi everyone, this is Dave, Kibou's owner, once I figure out how to use this forum, I'll be more sociable. Thanks to Brad for helping me post pictures. Thanks for all the nice comments, my Wife and I think he is a handsome Dog. When we take him to puppy class, he looks like a Prince compared to the other Dogs. The thing on his neck isn't a cell phone or weed stash, he keeps them somewhere else. Actually it's a leather pouch that holds his tags so they wouldn't get caught in the kennel openings which now he no longer uses. It also prevents the jingling which we think keeps him more stealth when he is outside since we have Mtn. Lions and Coyotes. Owning a Kai is different than any other Dog I ever had. I have raised 2 Akita's, a Siberian Husky and a Malamute and a Blue Heeler. He seems to mimic a Cat, slightly independent. We are extremely happy with him and hope he feels the same way about us.
Dave people always call my male Kai a prince. He's so proud. And yes, they are so catlike. I'm really excited you're on this forum. Hopefully you figure things out and we peak your interest enough to stay. :-)
Dave: Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing the pics of Kibou. Beautiful Kai... I think you will enjoy this dog so much!
Now, I have to admit I have been too far away from the forum lately. Remind me of the circumstances around Kibou and how he came to be yours? Sorry to all if it's another thread that will be fine, too. I can read it there...
Well it all started when I decided I wanted a Japanese Dog, long story short, I decided on a Kai-Ken. I called around and sent an email to Brad, and he said he wouldn't have a puppy for quite a while. I had to look elsewhere, and nobody would have any puppies for a few months. A month later Brad emailed me about Kibou, which he acquired a few months back, and he felt that Kibou was more of the "Bear" variety and he was looking for the "Deer" variety for his breeding program. After owning 2 Akita's, I was looking for the "Bear" variety. He offered Kibou to me and I jumped on it right away, the next weekend I drove from Colorado to Brad and Jen's in New Mexico to pick up Kibou and have been very happy ever since. Kai's are so unique, every day he surprises me with his personality, it's not what I'm use to in a very good way, he seems so much more mature than he is. I’m really pleased with this breed.

And I agree with Tara... His tongue spots are quite cute!
Most of us were wondering when Brad shared some of his last pictures what he's got in his collar. Is it his weed stash? His cell phone? I must know!
