Kai mix for adoption

http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/17686971

I fear she may not have much time left until her euthanasia, and wanted to give her a fighting chance here on Nihonken Forums. =( I would take her myself, but I cannot have dogs at my place (Tasha is a service dog).

She looks mostly Kai-Ken, aside from the ears. What do you all think?

  • I work for a non-profit agency that treats child abuse as a Marketing and Development Director, so I'm going to give you my professional opinion on the ad in the hopes of finding this dog a home. I would take off the sad/pathetic blurry picture and put a better quality/happier one on.

The ad only speaks of the shelter that is in trouble and not the animal. If I'm a dog lover, who has a dog in the home or children, then I want to know temperment, smarts, energy level, etc. You only have one chance for people to want to come see the dog. Once they click off that page, they are not coming back and unfortunately this is an ad for a shelter not a dog.

Plus, I don't think you have a Kai, and Kai doesn't necessarily sell. No one knows what a Kai is.
  • I did not make the ad, if that's what you're thinking. But I agree with you, the only way anyone can know about the actual dog is if they call in. But the fact that the shelter is in trouble is what makes me think she won't last too long without help.

Her head and face look very Kai to me, but that is just my opinion. I wish we could see her tail and teeth/tongue.

  • That an interesting post, Ann. The comments particularly. Thanks for sharing!
  • I agree with what all you guys are saying, it is a terrible ad for any dog. However, I cannot do anything about that. I just wanted to show this dog to people who understand and may adopt Kai or Kai mixes.

Her face really speaks to me, and I just felt like I couldn't let her die if there's someone out there who wants her. Otherwise people are likely to just go 'wtf is a Kai?' and move on.
  • Are you close to her? Could you visit or call to get more info? That might help.

What kind've service dog is your Shiba? It's cool to see a Shiba as a service dog.
  • I'm not really close to her, I'm in Vancouver WA. I may be able to email about her, though, if no one else wants to.

Tasha reminds me to take my medicine by barking at the times I have to take it. Otherwise I probably wouldn't be able to live alone. She can also smell the chemical changes in my body if I haven't taken it, and tell me so. Also, she's been taught to look in my eyes and cuddle with me if I get depressed.
