Nihon Ken for Orvis Coverdog...?

Maybe some of the Nihon Ken hunters/photographers might like to submit entries for the orvis cover dog contest. The Orvis Company might appreciate some fresh faces!

It doubles as a fundraiser for canine cancer research, although I am not sure how this generated $300,000.

    My husband, Jeff, is production manager for the Orvis dog catalog- so I can't enter Juno, but you guys should just know that there's a judge in the NK corner. ;)

    He had the NKF calendar up in his office the last year we did one, so he has been edu-ma-cating people a bit too.

    I might put Conker in just for kicks. This contest isn't strictly on facebook like almost all of them are nowadays so I can actually enter. (I don't do facebook.)

    Isn't Canada a self-governing Dominion under the British Crown...? Maybe that counts...?

    I couldn't imagine that Orvis would embrace Great Britain and reject Canada. That's outrageous. Maybe @Wryly Brindle will get back online and give us the scoop.

    Heidi, you should contact them and ask. I mean, they are accepting Alaska and Hawaii so it's not really a location thing.

    Re: Canada- there are a host of legal issues, believe it or not, having to do with contests and Canada. I dont know what they are exactly, but Jeff was recently in the current issue photo-choosing meeting (there was a GREAT photo but they couldn't use it b/c it was from Canada and the woman in charge of legal had to explain to everyone why not.) In a past job, Jeff had to work with other marketing contests, and again, Canada was a huge legal ordeal, so they opted not to pursue.

    I love the most recent UK dog book cover- its a GSD in a stream with water drops flinging off her tail, it looks cool!

    Re: fundraising. Voters are asked for a donation to the Canine Cancer Fund. (Morris ANimal Foundation)

    AND...I have it on good authority that they are interested in seeing diff. breeds/mixes, so enter away!

    Clarification: Canadian dogs CAN be chosen by staff or voted by the populace into other parts (inside) catalogs (no prize $), but due to Canada's laws regarding prizes, they can't win the gift card awarded for the Cover and thus wont be chosen for that. There's only 4 covers a year, but there's many photos inside.

    @Wryly Brindle - thank you and Jeff for all the clarifications.

    I lived in Vermont for 25 years and I could not reconcile my experience with a local company excluding a group (i.e. Canadians). That it comes from outside of Orvis control makes more sense.
