I don't really like brindle often (a lot of times, especially on the longer haired dogs, it looks kind of... "muddy" to me) but I REALLY like this one. I like brindles with clearly defined stripes. Very stunning!
@ayk - Ann, I was looking at your site, how rare is the solid black Jindo? Maybe I missed it on your site, forgive me if i did... Is it a non-standard color? Like a messed up B&T?
Thanks for sharing the Jindo pictures. I was especially intrigued by the B/T Jindo, since I have a large B/T puppy mill Shiba. I did the doggie DNA test on Sukoshi and it came back Shiba and Chow. At the time I figured that it was "old Chow" that had been used during reconstitution of some of the Shiba lines. Now I wonder if the "Chow reading" was actually for a Jindo. (Don't know how different Chow and Jindo DNA might be.) She came from a place in MO not far from Fort Leonard Wood. It's possible that some US troops could have brought Jindos to the area. (In much the same way some of the early Shibas came to the US.) They might have been bred with the Shibas in the area.
Wow, gorgeous dog! I too am a sucker for brindle and this one is really beautiful Love the deep red (though if the picture has been edited, it might not be so deep IRL)
@sukoshi's mom - Supposedly, there is one lab that does have Jindo in its list of breeds and can pick them out. I can look up which one if you're interested. I tend to be highly skeptical of these labs though.
@Brego_mellon_nin - After *JackBurton* mentioned how his pictures tend to be saturated and how puppy buyers shouldn't expect red hot pups, I've been more aware of this in other photos. :-)
I think it's interesting how the lines are mostly black in Jindos but in the Kai, the lines can be chocolate in color.
I try not to overdo the PP(ing) on my photos, but I do typically crank the contrast up a bit so the dog stands out more. Kai are very hard to photograph, and it's hard to show what their brindle really looks like, so upping the contrast a bit helps make them look closer to what they look like in person.
I'm the same Brad. I could easily make Conker look awesome with a bit of photoshop here and there but instead I just try to get pictures to what they would look like in person. Juneau and Sasha though, if it doesn't come out right in the camera, no manner of photoshop will make them look good. They are very hard to get good pictures of.
The one w/ Jindo is the Wisdom Panel "Insight" test. Listed as "Korean Jindo", (Shibas are listed as Japanese Shiba). The original test I did w/ Sukoshi was the Canine Heritage. I will think about doing another DNA test.

I only disagree with some black dogs that have been brought forth as black Jindos.
edit: Forgot to answer your question about the rarity. It's pretty rare as it's recessive in the Jindo.
