Blue Tick Coon Hound
I voulunteer as a dog walker at my local humane society and about 3 months ago somebody brought in a purebred blue tick coon hound (Blues), with papers and everything. http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/22956446 He is a gorgeous dog, and just over 1 year old now. I thought for sure he'd be picked up immediately, especially with the hunting community in the area (GA/SC) but he's still there.
This past weekend, while checking to see what dogs hadn't been walked yet we (my boyfriend and I) noticed that there was a new dog, another young purebred blue tick coon hound. I believe he is 7months old.
I'm posting here because of the diversity of dog owners and was wondering if anyone knows anything about this breed or if they have a rescue in place. I feel like the CSRA Humane Society's posting isn't getting enough attention to these dogs.
I'm just a volunteer walker, so I have nothing to do with the adoption of these dogs... I just can't help but feel like I should try to do something to get them adopted or at least to a rescue that is dedicated to the breed...

The one on petfinder is beautiful.
Hope they get adopted.
I don't think the new one has papers with him, but he looks exactly like Blues so there is no doubt he's purebred. The volunteer I asked about the new one said she doesn't even know how he got there.
I immediately pictured the dog teleporting in to the kennel like some kind of magic trick.
Snf
they haven't made one for the new pup yet, once they do I'll post that as well. Their ages are 13months and about 7 or 8 months. It really is a shame about the "noise" thing, I love listening to him. Whenever he's taken for a walk and sees dogs across the street he starts bawling at them, he's so cute and such a sweetheart.
@poeticdragon: Haha, us volunteers don't get too much info on when the dogs are brought in, or sometimes they are just tied to the fence after hours.... Teleporting works too. lol
Have you poked around asking any nat'l or regional Bluetick groups?

I realized until I saw the pic that I actually had no idea what bluetick hound looked like. I think I was imagining something more bloodhound like, but these guys are much more attractive!
Also found out that Blues wasn't originally brought to our shelter either. The family that got rid of him for "being too loud" had actually brought him to a kill shelter. An employee from the kill shelter is the one who contacted the humane society. So I guess him being at the humane society is much better than what would have happened. He'll have a home at the Humane Society for as long as needed. Some dogs have been there for 7 years, poor pups.
Sad hope the dog gets a good home.
Sometimes I hate volunteering there because of all the dumb stories, like dogs being brought back after being adopted because "they escaped the fence" or "I don't have time for him after all". However, when you see the dogs go to good homes it makes it worth it.
