  • How scary!! I hope she recovers quickly!!
  • Oh no! I am so sorry to hear about all of this. Poor Angi! I am glad to hear that she is doing better and will hopefully be on the mend soon. Hugs to all of you!
  • @poeticdragon , is there a way you can find out what the source was? If that can be determined, definitively, that's definitely grounds for a lawsuit! I'm glad to hear Angi is on the mends.
  • Sorry about this. :( I hope she recovers well soon.

I thought the recall was posted here maybe it was just on the shiba side.. :\

I'll have to make sure to repost recall alerts from shiba side when I see it.

  • @MapleTwinkie Unfortunately we threw out the food on Saturday and don't have any of it left to test. She wasn't really sick until two days later.
  • Poor Angi....hope she has a speedy recovery!
  • I read a little bit on FB about her condition. I'm so sorry she had to go through this. Super glad to hear that she is now on the mend. Poor kid. If there is anything I can do to help you out, Claire...please let me know.
  • Glad to hear she is starting to recover. Can't imagine how scary all this must have been.
  • poor angi! Hope you feel better soon pup! Sorry you are going through this!
  • Very sad to hear this. I wish Angi a speedy recovery!
  • Wish your girl the best and hope she recovers quickly!
  • We got to visit her in the hospital this afternoon. Had to cut it short because she was in pain and making it worse being excited to see us. She is a very good patient.

  • I hope Angirasu recovers well--what a worry!
  • Thinking positive thoughts about her recovery.
  • I'm so sorry to hear about Angi! She's so fortunate to have you!
I hope she's feeling better soon and is able to come home.
  • Poor girl! I'm so glad you were able to see her, though and that she's on the road to recovery. This is super scary though.
  • I'm so sorry.

Mei got campylobacter after a hike in Tahoe. It was scary. I thought we were going to lose her. But it's quick and fleeting. Hopefully she's all better from that now and can heal from her surgery.

What's the recovery regimen like? @poeticdragon
  • We're not out of the woods yet. The critical period in which we find out if the surgery was successful or her small intestine was without blood for too long and took too much damage to recover, will be 3-5 days afterwards (Friday-Sunday). After day 5 if she is still doing okay, we can talk about transferring her to our regular vet for supportive care for a couple more days. So she might come home mid next week. She is currently on three antibiotics, some GI protectants, and an IV. She wont be released until she is eating and pooping normal again and her platelet count is stabilized.
  • Oh man, that is so heartbreaking. It's so hard to see your furry kid really suffering, but so happy to see you. I've been there, and I've bawled.. But seriously, what a super scary ordeal.. you must be so emotionally, mentally and physically exhausted. I hope she stabilizes soon and recovers without any more problems. Sending good vibes to Angi..
  • That first pic of you holding her heading is just heart breaking.
  • Sending well wishes from NorCal!
  • Thanks for updating us on things I'll keep her in my thoughts.
  • I'm thinking about you guys during this difficult time. Hopefully this will be a tiny blip on the radar in Angirasu's otherwise long and healthy life.

The doctor said Angirasu was looking surprisingly good today -- hooray for puppy healing rates! So we were able to transfer to our normal vet for boarding and 24/7 care for the next two days. We could have brought her home, but I felt better having an attendant to always watch her and a doctor on call.
  • Yay!!! Go Angi!
  • yea for good news!!
  • Yeah! And I just realized. She's one of the puppies you just had huh? @poeticdragon

Since she had the intestinal problems at a young age do you think she's genetically susceptible?

Nah. This was definitely bacterial. I think it only got as bad as it did because the first ER was terrible. (I left out some unimportant stuff... rants mostly... but lets say... I'm never going back there.)
  • Glad to hear about the improvement!!!
