  • @cdenney - I acquired a canopy, so we have shade! :) I only have one camp chair, so Dane may have to sit on the ground unless someone has an extra.

Should we bring coolers? I have one, but it might be a bit much to bring with the canopy, chair, and crates.
  • We'll be packing our camping chairs, have at least 3 of them.
  • I can do chairs (2/3?) and a cooler. I have an xpen but not sure how many dogs can fit comfortably (two if they like each other?). How big a cooler do you want? Or @calia wanna join our enterprise?
  • LoL @cdenney, I was figuring there'd be a big NKF area so we all can gush over each others dogs while not in the ring.
  • YES! Kyuubi the Akita puppy will be there. Despite being 53 pounds (as of last Saturday at least) he is a puppy and will be part of the puppy group on Friday. We will be there on Saturday as well to hang out and see the rest of the show. We will also have our 4 year old female shiba with us and our 3 year old son. Between the two dogs and the preschooler we can't guarantee we will be there all day but a good portion of it.
  • Can't believe this time next week I will be hanging with NK peeps at te show.
  • Someone sneak me in their trunk please.
  • I'm excited for the meetup (way more than the event)... but I am dreading the drive. lol
  • I hope everyone has packed their cameras & charged their batteries too :p ~
  • I hope everyone has packed their cameras & charged their batteries too :p ~
LoL @sangmort, I'll be taking a step up and bringing the actual chargers...No excuse of dead batteries here.
  • Ugh, checked weather.com to see what the forecast should be like at the show, looks like everyday of the week is nice but the two days that the showing is on. Hopefully they're off, but we should probably pack a few umbrellas just in case. Does anyone know what the policy is for inclement weather?

  • Show is on rain or shine. We had rain ponchos in 2011.
  • That is likely to change before then. They seldom get Ohio weather right that far in advance.
  • It has already changed to a 40% chance of rain friday, cloudy sat morning and sunny sat afternoon.
  • I am bringing a pop up canopy that is pretty weather resistant. (It has been tested at many rainy/stormy mountain bike events.)

But I always have an umbrella in the car and will be bringing my raincoat too.

And I will be bringing two cameras and two batter chargers. :-D

    I am so excited!
  • Again, If anyone cannot attend, but would like to be a part of the show, the club is still in desperate need of donations for the raffle and auction. Also they still need trophy sponsors. They are well short of covering the cost of putting on the show. Message me if interested.
  • Everyone have fun, and post pics! And post pics wearing your NK forum shirts too! :)
  • Hehe I ran into @calia on a rest stop on the toll rd and gave her, her tee and saw her pups.
  • For anyone at the hotel, here's our rooms in case we need to call and coordinate for the Friday morning hike.
    Me - 114
    Beth - 217
    Chrystal - 227
    Claire - 201

  • @CrimsonO2 - Don't know if you're paranoid like me, but may want to post that in the member's only section [ or re-categorize the thread ] ;) ~
  • Do people have a schedule for Saturday during the day? We're waking at 4am to get there for when the entry starts and will probably leave around 5.
  • Here's a copy from their website:

  • @ayk - oops, I just meant personal schedule/plans. Anyway, the show was smaller than I thought so it was easy to meet people and was lots of fun.

Thanks to everyone I was able to meet today! I hope you all have a safe trip home.

I got a really cool book at the auction. I will see about scanning parts of it. It was published by NIPPO 13 years ago for the 70th anniversary of the organization. It has photos of all the breeds foundation stock -- so, so many photos! I'm trying to figure out how its organized (I think by year) because I see different breeds on the same page. Each dog has a name and some other info with it I shall puzzle out.
  • It sounds like this book that Shigeru mentioned on his blog?

    Looks like you really scored!
  • For those of you who aren't FB friends with me, here's a link to the album containing some of the pictures I took at the show: NIPPO Classic 2013

For those who don't have FB, I'll embed some of the images on the thread when I get home.

I had a blast at the show, great to finally meet so many of you. Congratulations to @BradA1878 , @CrimsonO2 , and @poeticdragon for their wins at the show!!

It was really awesome that 3 of 4 handlers/dogs in the best in show judging ring were from Nihon Ken Forum -- great job guys! Congratulations to the new NIPPO-USA CHAMPIONS Akashi, Kurenai, and Ghidora!
  • Yay for my baby Goro's daddy! LOL So proud to have one of his boys!
  • Congrats guys! I was stalking @Calia's FB for updates.
