Sora The Shikoku

Hello Everyone,

My name is David and i was lucky enough to get a puppy from Peggy at O' iKon this past Sunday. His name is Sora. He was apart of Shiggy - Sire (Akashima) & Saki's - Dam (O' iKon) litter. They were born on April 30th, 2015. There was 5 puppies in the litter. Sora is one of the male sesame puppies from the litter. There were 2 male's & 3 female's in the litter.

Peggy was amazing during the whole process, i remember reading everyone's comments on Peggy in the past threads saying how caring and nice she is and they are spot on. I remember talking to her on the phone about a month ago and i could already tell how much she cared for each and everyone of those dog's.

Some were wondering why i decided to get a Shikoku. Over the past month's i decided i wanted to get another dog. I was looking at all the breed's and i never felt like i found the right breed with the right characteristics. I wanted a medium size'd dog that would be very active outdoor and calm indoor. I lived in the Gold Coast, Australia for a year and i loved to walk everywhere i went. I found when i moved back home i wasn't able to get out for long walks as much as i used too. So i wanted to get a dog that would like to go for long walks or hikes. My one regret when i went to Australia was, i was never able to go to Japan. I have a fond liking for the culture and have always been interested in it ever since my friend moved there 10 years ago. When i was thinking of what breed to get, i google'd "Japanese Dog Breeds" and the Shikoku came up. I fell in love with the breed once i started reading up on it and i discovered this forum.

Sora has been great so far. He did very well with the road trip home, it was about 4 hours and he slept the whole way home. He didn't get car sick or whine one bit. He was very calm the whole day. I've had him now for about 48 hours now and he has been wonderful. He's so calm and is very playful. He has already learned that he needs to go to the washroom outside and he goes to the back door if he needs to go out. He's such a quick learner. The two night's have been good so far, he slept for most of the night very calmly and only woke me once in the middle of the night each night to go to the washroom. It seems the transition to a new home has been an easy one for him so far, i might have already spoiled him with a bunch of toys already so that might have helped :)

Sorry for the delay, I've been writing this post in between nap time. I'll post more about Sora and myself sometime soon. It's been a long but amazing 48 hours. Talk soon.

Nice to have met you @dsaveriano and Sora! And even happier to know there is another shikoku not too far from us now :) I'm happy to do a meetup anytime! I'd love to see how Takeo acts around a shikoku puppy, he still has his puppy energy and Sora seemed very similar to how Takeo was as a pup, very playful and curious. I will send you the training info after this post.

Here are two pics I took that day, unfortunately I didn't get more because of the rain...
