Hilo gets neutered tomorrow morning!

edited June 2008 in Akita (秋田犬)
Wish him luck! He doesn't take to surgical procedures to well, so we are a little stressed for him.

I'll keep you posted... He is gonna be so mad at us for a few days. :o(

Keep us posted. I'd like to hear whether Hilo maintains his dominant pack status. How old is HIlo now? I hope the surgery goes well.

Good Luck Hilo!!! And to you and Jen as well! LOL, I wouldn't want to be around a mad Hilo!

Im sure he'll do fine and hopefully have a speedy recovery. I don't think his pack status would change. He is a little over a year right Brad? Hopefully this will help prevent any aggression to the other males in the house.

Best of luck to Hilo. I'm sure things will be fine, if anything you will probably get to hear some extra woo-woos as Hilo demands attention.

    Have you taken Hilo yet?
    Hope everything's okay.
I am trying to catch up on the forums. Overwhelming.

Brandon, your photos are beautiful and I love the birthday party with the pup cakes and those action shots.

I've forgotten now, do I bookmark active discussions?
    Love to Hilo.

I assume you're asking how to bookmark a discussion? If so, at the top of the discussion on the left, there is an option to bookmark.

Jen is on her way right now to get "Cotton Ball"... hope he is not to mad at us. :o(

Hilo is the only dog we have that truly seems to get upset with us and pout, for days... its so sad.

I'll give you an update as soon as I have one...

I just got done posting that Maui thing and Jen called... she was crying.

Apparently Hilo has had some complications, his vital signs are bad and he is bleed and swollen in the surgical area. He has to be monitored over night - Jen said he looked horrible and he was in a tiny little crate to restrict his movement.

Shit, I don't get it, the Anderson pack must just have really bad Karma right now or something. Not sure what we did to deserve all this.

I can't write anymore w/o getting upset... I'm really worried about him.

So sorry to hear about Hilo - keep your chin up though, sometimes that's the best thing you can do in situations like these... we're thinking of you!

You didn't do anything to deserve this, even if you feel that way. I don't know anything about Hilo's health background or health issues but know that most dogs are pretty tough. At least the vet made a conscience decision to keep him overnight rather than hand him back in poor shape.

Neutering later in age can require a little more care and recovery time. Some dogs have difficulty with anesthesia, so combined it requires careful monitoring.

Wishing you the best.....I know it will be a restless night.....hang in there.

That's terrible Brad. I'm so sorry to hear that. You most definitely didn't do anything to deserve all this. I know its probably not that comforting to hear, but your pups are very lucky to have you and Jen. All of the issues they are going through are made a million times easier because of you. So, keep your chin up. You'll get through this. And so will your pups.

    Keep us updated.
