A result of my boredom, as Mylie sits in pain on my lap from her surgery & I wait to take her to the vet for a check up. I don't know what to do with myself when I don't work!

Looks like she loves that bed.

Let me rephrase: I don't know what to do with a day when Mylie doesn't want me to leave her side & I can't take her out to play :( I had to call in to stay with her until the vet visit.

    More photos in the meantime:

So cute! She could almost be my Bella's twin sister! :)

She is so cute! She does resemble Bella a bit... the mask is similar.

Hey, can I have her?.... I promise not to give her back. Too cute.

scarlet... LOL, don't let her looks deceive you! She's a mischievous little monster, I think I may actually call her "monster" more often than I call her by name. She's such a handful and requires 24/7 attention, and the snuggles only come when I completely wear her out, which is rare. Despite how hard it is to raise this shiba pup with enless energy & destruction on her mind, I would give away my left leg before I ever considered giving her up!

btw; In that last picture, see that spot on the wall that has been torn away behind the couch? Monster did that yesterday =p Luckily the room is being remodeled right now so it's not a big deal.

awwwh.....she is so cute! About being a little monster, I would say it is certainly a development phase for Shibas but can rear it's ugly head in adults too during times of stress.

Have you considered using a crate if you are not using one? If you are worried about keeping her in a small spot if she has been running loose up to now, consider using a larger sized one. Don't let her get too dependent on you being there because it will be a lot harder for her to adjust once you go back to work or have to run out to take care of your personal life. I know it is hard at first since pups are so cute you want them with be with you most of the time, but a shiba with sep anxiety is no picnic to work with if it develops so it is better to have her adjust now but providing some measured controlled sep time by you.

What has worked for me is to keep all dogs and puppies on a routine (with the crate) as if we are at work even while we are home and also times when you can not attend to her, before she decides dry wall is a great creative activity. (LOL)

No point in having little habits become habitual that can crop up later in life. As adults sometimes animals will revert to old patterns, particularly in times of stress. Hate to see you remodel the house and later have it torn up if for some unknown reason in their crazy shiba brain they decide they are upset and release pent up frustration in a manner that familiar and soothing, yet counter productive to all your expensive hard work on the home. Better to guide the behavior now while it is minimal I say than to have habituation later.

Good luck....Keep the pictures coming .....she certainly is a cutie!

Budweiser82684 - Adorable pup! You should make a thread in the "introductions" section and introduce yourself and your new shiba pup! I'd love to hear about him/her? and yourself!
