Its all cuddle and play over here
Its been a while since I last spammed you guys, so I thought I'd give you a few highlights from the last few weeks.
Here's Joey post neuter surgery looking all pathetic:
He recovered really nicely. It only took him a few days of snuggling on the couch with me and Lucy before he was chomping at the bit to get going again.
Joey has found a new favorite spot on the chair in the living room. Coincidentally, that was Lucy's first favorite spot on the furniture.
These next two are from my recent 14 hour drive to NJ. They spent about 1/4 of the time just sleeping together. I wish I could have seen it better, but I did my best to snap a few shot over my shoulder.
Lastly, a little video spam.
The first one is of Lucy being loved on by Joey. They do this a lot and I find it absolutely adorable!
This next one was taken while I was visiting my parents in NJ. Joey developed a crazy post-walk freak out that he did almost every day. We would come back from the walk and Lucy and Joey would play crazily in the living room for a few seconds. Then, Lucy would go into the kitchen to get a drink of water and Joe would wait for her in the living room. Eventually, she would come back and Joey would entice her to play. They would then play hectically again for a little while and Joey would start to run Shiba 500's around the room while Lucy would either give chase or wait in the middle of the room and growl/snarl/yell/nip at him when he came by. I found it hilarious!
I hope you enjoyed the spam!

it looks like Lucy is feeling better?
WOW! Joey is huge! How much does he weigh now?
LOVE the first video. They are so sweet together. And little dog vocals are so nice! So are the little patter of their feet. Around here, it sounds like an earthquake and an all out brawl. What's interesting too is that they are both fairly vocal when playing. Thank goodness, it's only Keigo. If both Mika and Keigo were vocal, I might tear my hair out.
Thanks for sharing!

Jen: Lucy was doing a lot better. Between the drugs and the new diet her stool was rock solid and she had a lot of energy. Her stool has been a bit softer since we got back to GA though. I think its due to the stress of the drive and the fact that we are watching Thea for a week. Thea's parents just had their first baby and wanted some time to adjust to life with the baby before they managed the introduction and got into a new routine. Lucy is trying to make sure Thea knows that she is the dominant female in the house. Its pretty interesting to watch, but I think its stressing her out a little bit.

Barbara: Sorry about the no visit. I really wanted to, but it was a very hectic visit. I wasn't actually there all that much. I left for six days in the middle to go to a conference and then I was the best man at my friend's wedding which took up a lot of time. Joey is still growing like a weed. I have no idea how much he weighs right now, but he started another growth spirt about the time I got up to NJ two weeks ago. He must be in the neighborhood of 24 pounds by now.

Bev: Thanks for the compliment! I'm not usually that good, but I had been watching Joey play like that for days so I knew what to expect. That made it a lot easier. :-)
*note: That makes me sound like a grandma.
What a great situation you have : )

So freaking cute! I love the video of Joey loving on Lucy! And I already commented on the play video - they are a trip... totally crazy!

Side question - I notice you have a new version and an old version of the Ruff Wear harnesses. Are the new ones better? We have considered buying new ones for our pups since some are getting kinda used - but I'm curious to know if the improvements they made are good ones???

Good question about the harnesses. I've been trying to decide if I like the new one better or not. The old one fits Joey really nicely. Its cut well so he has room to move around. The new one doesn't fit Lucy quite as well, although it is better than the old one fit her. It is beefier than the old model. Not bulky per se, its actually smaller than the old design. But it is really thick so I think there is a lot of wasted material and its a lot heavier than it needs to be. Probably not a big deal if you are putting it on an Akita but with a 16 pound Shiba a few ounces here and there can make a difference. It seems to ride higher on her back and doesn't fit as snugly around the sides as the old design, but the straps are somehow tighter. The padding in the front and on the bottom straps is beefier as well. I think the old design was softer and more flexible than the new one, both in the padding on the straps and in general. My biggest issue with the new design is the leash attachment point is a LOT thicker which makes attaching the leash a little more difficult, especially one handed. The one thing I really like about the new design is that it has retro-reflective lining so Lucy stands out in headlights at night.
My advice would be not to get the new model unless either your old ones are falling apart or you do a lot of walking in the dark on roads and could benefit from the retro-reflective lining.
The new ones look a lot nicer, quality wise, so that is why I wanted your feedback - can't judge a book by its cover. )

OMG!! 24lbs. Isn't Lucy only like 14lbs. WOW.

I'm not sure about the dog show. It depends on who else is going. My main motivation for going would be hang out with people I like, not to watch dogs run around in a circle.
