Is there something wrong with Ahi?
It's kinda sad, but Ahi is being super sweet to us lately and it is making us think there is something wrong with her.
Could this be a sign that something is wrong? Any thoughts?
Ahi usually wants nothing to do with us, but this week she has wanted nothing more than to lick us and be by our side, she is acting like Loa. It's creeping us out. WTF?

It didn't phase him one bit when Yoshi saw me on the floor. When we got back to the house, I left him outside in the porch since my mom was cleaning the kitchen and I didn't want him sniffing and licking the floor. He wouldn't stop peeking through the door and started whimpering. So I went out to see what he wanted, and he started licking my wound and kept giving me this look as if he were sorry.
In any event, maybe nothing's wrong with her but it's you she's thinking about. Perhaps something in the oven ?
Or maybe there's a blue moon out ~
Maybe this is something new about Shikoku behavior. After the age of 2, they become more affectionate? It would be interesting if after Loa turned 2, she became more like Ahi...
Perhaps now she is healing up and therefore is feeling more confident in her body. With that confidence she can ease up and actually enjoy herself more. You and Jen have taken such great care of her, I am sure she is aware of the dedication you have shown her and is responding accordingly.
Now that Piglets knee is healing up she is more playful and showing more affection to the other two dogs. I know when I am working with an injury I am less than snuggly. Jay has a knee injury right now, and he is NO FUN.
I say bask in it! Perhaps this is the beginning of some happy stuff for the Anderson pack!
I agree it may be age. Once Niko turned 2 she became more and more affectionate.
I think when Loa turns 2 she will turn into sugar!
He turns 2 in a couple months. I also think its because the weather has become a bit drastically cold at night. It was 40 degrees last night! Kitsu was all over me and my quilt last night!
I think considering her age, her injury and healing time, her happy little life and that its getting a bit colder out - she is probably becoming a snuggle bug! Enjoy it!
You have had dogs for a long time now...you know when something is wrong....I would only worry when she doesnt want to do anything but lay around.....She might just be missing me...you never know....ask her!!!
I think Jessica may be right too, Ahi has been in pain most of her life due to knees or health issues, so maybe she finally feels better. Good point!
She has been noticeably sweeter to us, and mildly sweeter w/ the dogs. She still beats them all up every morning [in "play"], but we caught her snuggleing with Loa yesterday! We asked what was wrong and she jumped up like "I wasn't doing that. shut up! I'm tough!". \

Continue to monitor her and see what surprises she has instore for you, Jen and the rest of the pack.
Kei-kun has been particularly sweet with me practically his entire life. Does this mean that next year when he turns two years of age he is gonna be a terror? Should I be scared, lol?
-pets Ahi- What a good girl!
Since Shikas & Kai are medium sized dogs, I was never really sure about their "mature age" so I'm guessing it's 2 years like big dogs. [ as opposed to shibas which are 1 year ] Would I be wrong in assuming that?
Brad, you need to take a picture of Snuggly-Ahi, is the mischief gone from her eye when she does it? lol~
Osy - Even before Ahi crossed this "threshold" she always had a very sweet look on her face when she was giving/getting love. She is actually very sweet - just kinda.... well.... passionate. )

Osy-Niko didnt really mature until 2, dont know about other shiba's
