Where to find one is never the most important thing. Finding a good breeder is always the number one priority. The only Kennels I have had contact with is Snow Crest Akita's. http://www.snowcrestakitas.com/ I have had great contact with them but never went really in depth with her. The breeder that we will get an Akita from someday (were going to get one this year but we got pregnant) is Miisan Kennels. inu.com Michael is an amazing man and an even more amazing breeder (I have only been impressed with all of my dealings with him over a year and a half. E-mails and phone calls and his ethics are phenomenal).
There are not many 100% JA breeders that are ethical, and many of the JA breeders produce blends. Good luck and do lots of research please!!
Edit: It may take a long time to get a pup but it will be worth the wait to get a well bred pup from an ethical breeder. Most breeders do 1-2 litters a year and already have waiting lists.
Thanks for your help I understand the importance of finding a responsible breeder and I know it will take time that is why I started now because I want to get one in like 6 months to a year. I have a shiba and I did research to get him for like 6 months so any suggestions you have I really appreciate.
I would say those 2 breeders are a good start. Many people in the Akita world say that the Akita's from Michael are some of the best walking this earth (and they have no connection to him but know him from the show world). When last years litter did not work Michael offered to find another breeder so he may be able to assist you in finding some other options too. I have been looking for our Akita for so long and now it is so difficult to not get one, but it is for the best. Im glad you know what it takes to get a quality dog. Good luck and Brad may be able to help you more when he is back and things are calmer. But JA breeders are not many.
