Pizella is little pea and pupa is doll in Maltese. I change the a to u to make them masculine. I also still call Kuma 'teddy' and also loverboy when he comes for cuddles. Nyx also gets 'princess'.
Apart from that I am known for coining silly multilingual gibberish to them every so often.
However, they only respond to Nyx/ie and Kuma.

I read in many places that two syllables are ideal for dog names. Most people on this forum has three. Is there really a big difference in the reaction times of the dogs? I would love to name my future nihon ken a Japanese name to pay homage to their heritage, but I love the sound of several three syllable names (mostly from anime shows I used to love to watch).
