Ahi Update: She finally got her "Fancy Pants"!

We finally got Ahi's "brace" [aka "Fancy Pants"]. It's more like a hobble than a brace, it just prevents her legs from going to either side which will keep her from stretching out her torn rotator cuff.

She has been in a rather small crate while we were waiting for her brace to come in - we had to keep her from jumping up or pacing too much since that will end up hurting her more.

We are waiting for a response from a rehabilitation specialist who is familiar with these Fancy Pants, hopefully she will give us an idea of how much she should wear them and for how long.

I have some pics of her Fancy Pants, and I have some video that is uploading now...

Can we start calling her Forrest, Forrest Gump?

    "Run Ahi Run..."

She doesn't love her new Fancy Pants, but she deals with them. Ahi is cool, she just kinda adjusts. She's smart.

Im sure Ahi knows that this is better than being stuck in the crate all the time so she will take the lesser of two evils! good for her though, dealing with such a tough situation.

The Anderson pack amazes me daily...

It sure does beat the crate.
I hope it will be all she needs to be all better. Hang in there Ahi!

I'm glad to see her out and about.
    It doesn't look too restrictive.

Hehe. Looks like Kahuna has the hots for her. :-)

I'm glad she will get some outside time...will she be able to run around anymore? Or still have to be on a leash?
  • edited November -1
She will not be able to be free - really she is only gonna be allowed in the office w/ us while off-lead. The video with her playing in the snow shouldn't of happened.

Its great to see her out and about, even if its restricted. One step at a time I guess. Before you know it she'll be back to her monster self!!

    8 weeks... :(

I just wish Ahi could catch a break, and you guys too.

Ah, gee, 8 weeks! :-( What happens after that?

    *POOF* she sprouts wings!!!!!

Damn my whimsical mind attacked again. Sorry.

It's good to see Ahi out and about. She seems to be adjusting well to her fancy pants.

    Wow! There's snow.

Aww...Miss Ahi, at least she can get some minor out time. Office is better then all day in the crate.

8 weeks is a long time, but I'm glad that it'll help support her.

    Good Luck.

Oh. Ahi looks like she doesn't mind the new gear at all! Sure, it shouldn't have happened but I'm so glad she got out in the snow and snuck in a little play time with the other doggies! Seems like the only thing she's minding is the lead! All my healing energies and thoughts are coming Ahi's way... she looks like she needs to heal and get on with her life as a full-fledged "leader of the pack!"...

Thanks for sharing the pics and her story, Brad.

Hmm, that brace is pretty cool and she still has a pretty good range of motion in her front legs, but it''s still really supportive at the same time. She is so lucky to have you guys, hopefully that 8 weeks flys by in no time.
