Snow in Seattle (new pics)

edited December 2008 in Shiba Inu (柴犬)
Finally some snow, and ice. I got stuck in my driveway and I can't go to work, darn :( I'm so sad about that....not.
I was stupid and just washed Beebe cause she is blowing coat in the middle of winter (WTF?) so I had to put her Ruffwear coat on to keep her snuggly. Ike (The Chunk) totally stops playing as soon as the camera comes out and just stares at me. Go play in the freakin snow already!

    Awwwww!! I'm jealous~
I wish there was some snow where I'm at. Its snowed a couple times but none of it stays :(
Congrats on the day off ^.~ lol Snow Days win!!

LOL. I miss snow days. They used to mean a day of doing nothing important other than frolicking in the snow (and I guess shoveling the driveway). Nowadays they just mean working from home instead of the office. I guess, being in Atlanta, it doesn't much matter because we get like 1 snow day every 4 years. :-)

Beebe looks great in her jacket. :-) And Ike is handsome as usual. You've got a great yard btw. The pups must love it back there.

Sooo beautiful. I can't get enough of your spam Linsday, such lovely color contrasts! I would love to hear a Japanese Nippo judge's opinion on Ike's coat color, he really is a magnificent red.

Thanks Dave, there used to be a little old Japanese couple who lived here so there are some occasional oriental touches. The dogs like to hide in the Great Bamboo Forest and stare at us from their little platform. I want to reinforce the kennel and runs at the top of the property. There is a heated shed attached to the run now, but none of it is shiba proof. You can sort of see it in this next pic. I really wish I had a larger more private area so I could have a real kennel setup.
Oh, here is Maggie the 16 year old BC/aussie thing, and Buddy the weasle killer pet store pom in front of the hot tub thingy with the lion status. We had to cover up some of the plants because of the freeze. It's like 25 degrees here but the fuschias and roses are in bloom in the gazebo, maybe something to do with global warming?

So jealous!!! We haven't seen anything more than a dusting since 2006!!!

Kelly, Thank you! I am so blessed to have Ike living with me. I am dying to have him judged, but as far as Nippo goes, his parents are not Nippo registered unfortunately so no Nippo shows for Ike but I would definately value the input. I think his coat color is similar to one of ggparents, Toyonishiki Go Toyohashi Onoda (a truely remarkable dog).

Since I have nothing else to do, here is the yard in the spring. Quite a contrast to the bleak winter months...
  • edited November -1
Sure is a contrast, but they are both really cool. :-)

Your yard is gorgeous both in spring and in winter. Beebe and Ike are so cute and it looks like they enjoy playing in the snow.

Thanks for all the lovely snow spam!

Today was our first day of snow (and probably only and last lol) and Keiko was in LOVE!!!! Gotta love the PacificNW! :o) I'll try to take some pics/video of her playing on our walk tomorrow... so long as my fingers can still operate the camera with these high winds!! :oD

Wow, P-town got some bad weather too. Yep, goota love it.
Hey Evan, where's Keiko been, haven't seen her in awhile.
  • edited November -1
You must live in a beautiful area!! Your pics are gorgeous!

Well, here are some ancient scanned pics of the Old Farm mid winter back in Oregon. We were stranded with only generator power and wood fuel for weeks. Oh I'm glad those days are long gone.
  • edited November -1
    Such a pretty view though!!!
  • edited November -1
I used to play in that creek-up by Vernonia. Oh it makes me cold looking at it.
  • edited November -1
Glad those days are gone? I'd totally move in there.

It's for sale I last heard. Only a like a few thousand miles away from Atlanta. A bit of a commute, but hey, if you're the mountain man type and want to get in touch with your roots while at the same time totally avoiding all human civilization, this could be the perfect place to start your own fringe cult. Lots of craw daddies in the creek, outdoor plumbing, all kinds of ammenities.
  • edited November -1
When can I move in? There is the issue of paying for it though....
  • edited November -1
I think it's customary for mountain men to barter with powder gold, pelts and whiskey. If none is available to you, I suggest you secure yourself some mules or wenches. These are all essential tools for Grizzly Dave's survival kit. And shiba food, you need that too.
  • edited November -1
Ah yes. Mules and wenches. I reckon I passed some a few days back. I'm fixin to head back that way and stock up on supplies anyway. I'd be mighty obliged to ya for holdin down the fort until I return to finish negotiating this barter.

Lindsay, you crack me up! :o)

I'm surprised someone hasn't bought it and tried to rent it out in the winter, or something.

We actually looked at cabins on Mt. Hood, but they make you rent for an entire week, and most are like 5-6 bedrooms. We just don't know enough people to fill that much space. Not to mention, they're not too keen on doggies in the cabins either. But maybe one year we'll have a snowy mountain Christmas ;o)

    Yessir.

Oh, I so want to go to Mt. Hood and stay for a week with the dogs. They would LOVE it. I would need to bring some shovels though in order to dig them out of the snow banks. What's with people over here not accomadating our dogs, how dare they? Did you know that the Shining was filmed at Timberline Lodge? I love that place, I want to live there even if it does remind me of the Overlook. Are you frozen yet in the Port?
  • edited November -1
I SO want to go to Timberline lodge, it looks awesome! I'm SO freezing here... our main big living room wall is basically made of glass (sliding glass doors... 4 of them) so it's FREEEEEEZING in our place... luckily we have the fireplace to snuggle up with haha (and Keiko and Belle if they're in the mood). Maybe in two years when we decide we're going to make the reservation we'll have a big Nihon Ken forum gathering on the Mt., that would be SO awesome!

Lindsay: Your doggies and your garden are beautiful, regardless of the season! Thanks for sharing the pics of Beebe and Ike... awesome! And loved the pics of the "old farm" as you called it! We are mountain-impaired here in Mn. so any pics or words of Mt. Hood and other high-elevation places are always welcome!

Evan: I am totally there for a Nihon gathering on Mt. Hood at the Overlook :) I'm jealous you have a fireplace.

Bev: for some reason I thought Minnesota was mountainous, but then I remember the NPR Norwegian Bachelor Farmer thing, Lake Wobegon, and I guess you can't plow a field of potatoes up the side of a mountain. I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures.

More snow here-and freezing too. Anyways, the dogs had fun being outside.

After asking Mother Goose what was up with those lion statues, Beebe found a spooky leaf and turned all bristly. She managed to get the Ol' Man to chase her around a little too, which stopped as soon as he saw the camera...

I would love snow. The small dusting we had Niko loved and it took 15 minutes to get Sasha out the door, and then she ran right back in.
  • edited November -1
Beebe is a very pretty girl, she looks so feminine next to "the stud muffin" that is Ike.
How did you pick their names?
  • edited November -1
Those are great! Love the one of Beebe and goose. It looks like she's trying to use mind control of it. :-)
