Dogs in my store!!! :D

edited January 2009 in General
I don't know why, but for the past three days I've seen more dogs than I have in a long time, all of them INSIDE where I work! lol [ seriously, who brings their pups shopping with them in an electronics store?! ] [ not that I'm complaining, definitely prefer them over the humans ;) ]

I've seen
- a smooth coated fox terrier [ too cute! love those big mouths :) ]
- Pomeranian [ looked like a little fox! ]
- Smooth B&T Chihuahua
- Miniature Poodle
- Maltese
- Malty Poo*

Also, someone had a cat :) lol

*The malty poo was a pup, just SO adorable. When it "barked" it sounded like a squeeker toy. Anyway, I came REALLY close to kicking the owner out of my store. She was carrying the pup around the store & when someone would say "How cute!" She'd say, "I breed them! It's a malty-poo! Only $700 and you can have him."

My supervisor & I were ready to throttle her :\ Lady didn't speak english other than that either! Wtf? Damn BYBs.

Other then that, all pets were well behaved. They just hung out in their owner's arms and let me get some pets & gave me some kisses :) ~

ive had a situation like that before when people parade their animals around for promotion. :( how horrible.
but i bring toby all over. to the store, gas station, corner store, and the mall once lol everyone loves him every where we go and every one and anyone who sees him wants to know what breed he is and are suprised to hear he is shiba inu. im guessing that my fiance and i are one of few that own a shiba in syracuse, ny.

I've always been afraid to bring Toby into other stores besides a pet store. I've seen people in Target with dogs, and they didn't get yelled at, so I deserve to bring my pup shopping. ;) Even though he is giant.

Steph, Toby would take up the entire shopping cart!

aww, but he'd happily take up the entire cart. :) I think it'd be cute. I don't use carts, anyways. I just pop in, grab what I need and get out.

I'm not sure you heard this, Osy, but there was a huge Puppy Mill bust a few days ago.

Our local Animal Shelter actually had a line of people wanting to adopt because of all the doggies! It was weird seeing a line of people.

My brother and I was going to camp out on Black Friday so we could get a puppy for cheap! (lol jk)

lol I'd be too afraid to get yelled at! Though I would LOVE to bring a puppy with me everywhere :) For now, I'll enjoy the ones that come to me in the store haha

Joe - That's awesome! I actually didn't hear anything about it. It's nice that the dogs are going to find homes :) ~

What I think is cruel is when the dog is obviously uncomfortable and aggressive at being in the store. I had worked at this one place along time ago where a lady brought in a sheltie that just snapped and growled at everybody. The lady almost dropped the dog when it tried to attack the cashier, who was giving change back. The lady just said, "Oh, he does this all the time, no biggie." And walked out the store like it really was no big deal.

A lot of people also don't respect others, especially employees, when it comes to bringing their dogs in. An employee blatantly stated that he was allergic to dogs, and the lady just plops it on the counter right in front of him while she was buying her things. He started hacking and sneezing, but she just gave him a nasty look.

I love seeing pups, I even snuck Tetsu in once. I just wish that these people were more considerate towards the dog and other people

We had to change the rules where I work because of people bringing dogs to work who were not properly trained. Also, there was one owner in particular who seemed to think it was cute if her dog explored the building while she was in meetings. (It was not well potty-trained) Anyways, a few people complained (allergies and cleanliness), so no more doggies allowed where I work. :( It's sad cause it was one particular owner who really ruined it for all.

I have seen shops with no animals allowed signs around here, but mostly they nicely ask you to leave your pup outside. It does make a nice break to the day though. Every once in a while a student will bring in a dog while they register for classes, and admin will let it slide so we all get a few minutes of play time.

We allow them into the store as long as the owner is carrying them & the dog is well behaved. One of my managers is a big dog person though, so once time he let in a GSD! :) ~

My mom is terrible about dragging Buddy the weasle killer around with her every where (he's a pom). She hides him in a sherpa bag and hauls him into restaraunts, grocery stores, malls, department stores. Her excuse is that nobody can see him inside the sherpa bag and he is quiet so what does it matter? By the way, he bites. I think she is assuming quite a liability.

Why would somebody bring a cat electronics shopping?

I have no idea. The kitty was just sitting in a soft carrier in the cart looking perfectly content.

Didn't get too close as I'm allergic to cats :x ~
