Anyone ever seen a dog try to paw his teeth out?

Ichi must have some stubborn teeth because he's chewing the air like a madman after eating. Then I started seeing him sticking his paws into his mouth. He looked like he was in bad need of a toothpick. So after I fed him a few icecubes, I found this on the floor.

It's not a canine but I heard those are rarities :). I've kept him busy with an edible nylabone so he's not chewing air and sticking his paws in his mouth to get the others that are trying to come out. All his puppy canines disappeared on me already.

Count yourself lucky. I never found any of Bella or Nola's baby teeth. Bella did not have a hard time with teething, but Nola did. She would chew on her paws and there was blood EVERYWHERE. So she found herself chewing lots and lots of ice cubes. That and chewing a cold wet wash cloth really helped.

Wow, looks like an upper left molar, nice find. Haven't seen to much with the mouth pawing, though they both did a lot of air chewing when the tooth folded into the mouth. It's always the worse when they get blood everywhere, especially on the body parts of other animals and people.

I must have been pretty lucky with getting Tetsu's puppy teeth. Every time he lost a tooth, he'd spit it out. Three of his canines I was able to get from him rough housing with Tikaani, and the fourth one when he was fixed. I found a couple of molars in his crate bed, and even was able to get a couple of those little front teeth.

    Casey,
Thanks for reminding me about the frozen wet wash cloth! I was at a loss on how to keep him chewing on something cold to relieve the pain without giving him that compelling need to go to the bathroom!

I managed to get a few of Kuma's baby teeth, including one of those elusive canines. I have to confess it was pretty hard to get it and I almost missed it.

Tug of war worked wonders when Kuma was teething, it really helps.

I found one of my puppy's teeth on the floor the other day too!! I was shocked. I've never seen one before! It looks just like an itty bitty wolf fang!

Honey had a rough time with her baby teeth. She dug in her mouth with her paws ALOT!!!!! But after a few days, MAYBE a full week, she was fine. We also did the frozen wash cloth and ice cubes.

I gave Sachi a whole apple to gnaw on when she was teething and ended with her puppy canines stuck in the apple. Her mouth was to small to really eat an apple, so she just treated it more like a ball and would leave little holes in it, occasionally with teeth stuck in it. If the puppy actually manages to eat the apple, just keep an eye on him and take it away before he gets to the core/seeds.

    ^speaking of the apple thing^

when i did chihuahua rescue, the used to cut a banana into 2 segments and freeze them, skin and all, then give them to puppies for teething. I forgot all about that!
