Beggars Can't Be Choosers...

edited February 2009 in Shiba Inu (柴犬)
... unless that beggar is a sneaky Shiba Inu.

Tosca climbed into my computer chair (or maybe my desk. I'm not sure.) while I was getting something to drink during the "intermission" in my soccer-foreign-chick-flick-double-feature. (Bend It Like Beckham / Offside) Anyway, she knocked my bag of popcorn off my desk and hopped down, set to devour it all... except that some of the popcorn was a little burned. I'd seen her by this point, but she was already away from the bag and completely disinterested. The only pieces she ate were the un-burned ones that fell out of the bag. She went through all the trouble of climbing the furniture to get to my food, only to determine it wasn't good enough for her. Snooty Shiba! I'm glad she didn't get to it, but I can't help but feel a little insulted.

Too funny ...reminds me of a foster who devoured half a bag of jelly beans only leaving the green and some yellow ones gummied on the floor.
I have met a few that are "McFatties" as well, who would eat just about anything that drops and argue over the seemingly non existent crumbs.

    That is hilarious!

Bend it like Beckham wasn't too bad - what's offside about?

Amber, Offside is an Iranian film about some young women who try to sneak into a soccer stadium to see the final World Cup qualifying match. Jafar Panahi, the film's director, does great work; too bad it's banned in Iran.

In other news, Tosca is now sniffing around the microwave waiting for properly popped popcorn to come pouring out.

Nancy: Love the popcorn saga! We found our doggie, Josephine, beside the road in a very desolate area when she was a 10-12 week old puppy while road-tripping home from Az. Needless to say, we were ill-equipped so had to make a bunch of stops for doggy food, vet visit, kennel, etc. My husband loves popcorn, and in one foray for a kennel (coming up empty-handed) he bought a large bag for himself. At the next stop, we left little Josephine in the car while we pursued the kennel... surprise, surprise --- upon our return she had devoured more than half the bag (even though we had made sure she had lots of puppy food, treats, etc, by then -- guess she was still "feeling" hungry for a low-cal snack)! Steve learned his lesson -- no more open "pup-"corn in the car when she is around! Not sure what she thinks of the overdone ones, though!

Hmm...I may have to check it out the next movie night.

You'll never be able to enjoy a bag in peace again!

Jazz loves popcorn balls (I can usually only find them around halloween) - she very daintily pops a kernel off at a time - takes her about 30 minutes to eat one.

Jazz, you have to get a video of that next time! lol ~

I will - I'm hoping the popcorn balls come out at Easter as well.

    Adorable!!!

My Anakin loves popcorn, but I won't feed it to him for fear that any unpopped kernels could pose a choking hazard. I'm paranoid about things like that, since he's my "baby".

My shiba is a picky eater, also, though. We sometimes purchase multi-colored dog biscuits from the vet, and he will turn his nose up at all of them besides the green ones! They must smell or taste different, because the green ones are his absolute favorite. He'll only eat the others when he knows the green one are gone.

    Crazy Shibas!
