Oh he isn't even fat though! He has a little tummy but he is getting so tall too, and muscular. He is only 12 weeks too. He'll be quite the bruiser I'm so glad he loved the woods. I was hoping he'd be my hiking buddy and it sure looks like that will be the case. He kept ALMOST diving in after fish, but then one foot would hit the water and he'd change his mind lol.
Dave, I'm so surprised that black mark stayed. Almost all the black in his coat faded on his back and tail but that white/black patch stayed and I'm so happy. Hopefully it doesn't vanish in the future.
Wow, we blinked and he's so much BIGGER! Good thing you've documented his puppyhood so very well. He's turning out to be such a little bruiser. :) Love it!
I'm a bit concerned about his weight only because most apartments in Indiana where I'll be moving back to have limits of 35 pounds...Has anyone ever heard of a landlord weighing a dog? I doubt they'd have an issue with 5 over as long as I keep him from being destructive. I'm just nervous after so many issues with bad landlords.
He may be getting big but he is just incredible. I feel like such a proud dad when people meet him the firs time haha. I couldn't have asked for a better dog. He is SO CALM for right now. which is shocking for a pup. That won't last haha. He is doing great on the leash now and luckily he is very scared of cars so he never tries to walk roadside. It was like he decided to use the leash one day haha. He and I are both excited for the May meetup now!
We have a 40lb limit per dog at our townhouse, though our landlord doesn't have us 'weigh in' or anything.
If you find a place, I'd be upfront and honest. Upsell your dog, get obedience class certificates and vet certificates of his shots and neuter, let your landlord know WHY your dog will be a model tenant!
p.s. I can't wait to meet this dog! He will be quite big! My male is 23.5 lbs at 2.5 years! Its so interesting the variations in shibas!!
I wouldn't worry too much about being "over the weight limit". So long as it is not by much and Shibas aren't so tall anyways. I bet he won't look like his weight. However, yeah I agree you should definitely do obedience with him and keep him from destroying things that aren't his, lol. Landlord's tend to appreciate dogs that are quiet and non-destructive.
So...about that fishing trip, I wanna see Indy carrying the fish!
He starts obediance school this July. The joys of a small town haha. I agree though Corina, as long as he isn't chewing on furniture we'll be fine. We are constantly working on substitution now when he chews and its worked out well.
And I know! I was so hoping we'd catch one so he could carry it around and chow down but no dice He kept spotting the fish before we did though, so he would have earned his meal haha. We're probably heading out again this weekend, so we'll see!
