Rhinitis can have many causes, like allergies, irritation of the nasal lining or viruses. Since everything else was clear, the vet is thinking it's either an irritation or allergies. We have been to the countryside, where he might have been exposed to loads of different pollen and both him and Nyx have been shedding quite a bit, so maybe some fur went up there, I'm thinking. He already seems a bit better, so I think the shot is already working.
He's a bit better, thanks! The shot ended up not doing much, and when Nyx started sneezing too, we took them both to the vet and she started them on anti-histamine pills (or so I understood). They started taking them last night, just gave Kuma his second dose, but they seem to be helping so far, I didn't hear them sneeze as much today. According to the vet, this week has been hectic with allergies among cats and dogs, she almost ran out of these pills.
Today I took out a balloon and thought of seeing what Kuma would want to do with it. He's always been kind of wary of them outside. This is the result.
Jessica, the floor is naturally shiny but I also cleaned all the house on Saturday to combat our allergy problem. Nyx has her tongue out in that last pic, that's why I wanted to take a picture of her. I'm quite worried about her because her sneezing hasn't changed despite the daily fight with her to take the pill the vet gave us. Rui and I get cut everytime! She's sneezing a lot and seems to have discovered a new hobby - sneezing on me at every chance she gets! We're taking her backk to the vet to change her meds - in shot form to spare our limbs!
That is really cute! Reminds me of Fergis, a mini-dachshund (I know, I know...I find this concept baffling...as if the standard version takes up SO MUCH space!?!?!!?) that I used to house-sit for. He was obsessed with balloons. He would leap and leap with his stubby legs and launch himself at the balloon. It was hysterical. You'd have to make him take a break after some time unless he managed to pop it!
(I'm glad I'm not the only one who noted the shiny floor. It's mostly envy from the land of laika tumbleweeds!)
That slanted wall is all I can look at in some of those pictures. WHY IS IT SLANTING IN AT THAT ANGLE? It's like a fun house.
Kuma and Nyx are as cute as ever, well, that may be a lie, they were cutter when they were younger. However still adorable. I hope things can get worked out for Nyx's allergies.
LOL Sarah... I often wonder why James got a mini-dachshund ... he says the breeder misled him, but I think he really just likes the tiniest dogs ever (he was in love with peanut the 2.5 chihuahua at our puppy socialization class...).
Brandon - Eheheh, that's the wall of the chimney of the fireplace. I have no idea why it slants like that, but most of the ones I've seen do, if the fireplace is at a corner like ours is.
Lindsay - Yeah getting closer to it.
Tara - The first one he popped, he looked slightly surprised, because he blew it with his mouth. The second one he blew by "punching" it, and after that it was all natural for him.
Nyx is still sneezing, but she seems a little better. She goes to the vet again today for the second round of shots. Let's see how it goes.

Get well soon Kuma. :-)
Thanks for the well wishes! :-)

Nyx wasn't that amused about it.
LOL, Nyx.
Your floor is very shiny.

Great Balloon & Akita spam!
I hope Kuma and Nyx feel better soon, poor babies.

Today we took Kuma to Sintra, after it cooled down a bit, we went to the old park there.
Before we left
"It's sooo hot..."
"Sexy, huh?"
With the heat, Kuma seems to have expanded a bit :-P
"This smells interesting"
"Daaad, no! You'll mess up my ears!"
We then took Kuma to Cabo da Roca, the western most point of continental Europe
And, of course, he had to leave his mark there
So that Nyx doesn't get jealous, here's a photo of her
