RCA... People are looking at me funny because I'm laughing so much...
I might have to check if we have any courses here at the university.

So she wouldn't be afraid of the ocean in a MAJOR state, like California or Texas? :P :)

Just joking around. I am not a beach girl either. I am of a Highly Scottish complexion, so I only like the beach on cold drizzly March days when nobody is there. No doubt to the dismay of my Nova Scotian sea-captain ancestors, I was very seasick last whale watch, so I am about done with the ocean, but I like seafood and tides and knowing that the sea is next to my middling state! :D

When I go back to Nova Scotia, the ocean intimidates me the way the Rockies intimidated me when I first saw them. They were huge and imposing on the horizon and it felt like they'd fall on top of me. I got used to the mountains, but now the ocean seems so vast, rocking back and forth like some huge animal trying to escape onto the shore...

    But really, they're both beautiful.

I love mountains. They have the opposite effect on me, I feel covered and protected. Open fields creep me out. No cover from zombies.

I actually meant I have a minor case of it, like it's not TOO bad :P

We are going to Maine as well for the July 4th weekend! I THINK it's a 6 hour drive for us, we're not going that far up as it's only for the weekend. Maybe we'll see you guys on the road / in Maine!

Thats fun - where are you headed? We are headed for the Rockland/Penobscot Bay area

We've never been to Maine, so Portland (I would love to go to Bangor). Our plan is to just relax, no agenda :)

My Husband is from Portland, Maine and we go up there all the time. The Old Port is beautiful and has some great shops/bars and some DELICIOUS places to eat!

Actually I have been looking at the food places hehee. I think I want to try and hit the Lobster Shack at 2 lights, Gritty McDuffs and Portland lobster co., all dog friendly :) Kristin, please let me know if you or your hubby thinks we should avoid any of the above mentioned eateries. Thanks!

In response to proper rest stops (north of NJ tpke), I don't recall that many going towards New England, but then again last time we did this was last year to Boston and we were so desperate to get there after being stuck in traffic here in NY we just kept going....I'm sure there will be something along 95 for us to pull over and relieve the pups. I wouldn't worry too much, dogs are quite resourceful with a tiny patch of grass.

Gritty McDuffs is AWESOME. It looks like a hole in the wall bar but they have GREAT Food. And really good Beer! Unfortunatley I am deathly allergic to shellfish so we don't go to lobster places :P, but really anything in the Old Port is awesome.

There are a few rest stops on the way to Portland from Boston that are really nice and have Dog areas. There is a rest stop in Kennebunkport, Maine that is NICE and worth the stop.

Have some crab cakes when you go up to Maine. Just be sure to check out for RCA

I want up to Maine once to bottom paint the Secret Service boat that follows George H. Bush around. We were in Kennybunkport. All I remember is being up till 4 in the morning working with 1 drop light and being eaten alive by mosquitos. It was pretty horrible actually. I'm sure you'll have a better time though.

I'm going to go to a nice eatery, get crab cakes then sniff them profusely. If they inquire, checking for RCA of course. Standard procedure.

Sounds like a plan! Be sure to get some video of that.
