Aww, Pam, he would be so cute in those pictures if he only had yellow on!

He's such a little devil! Well, he is a Shiba, so that remark was unnecessary, hehehe...

I love that third picture! He's so incredibly sweet.

    What a pretty shiba!

He is really cute, very good looking... I had never noticed all the dark hair on his back before! I love it!

What a lucky dog... He gets to live it up in HI... I'm jealous! :c)

    He is extremely handsome!!

    Yep - he's my little monster :)

Brad: he is definitely getting darker! After we furminated him, we noticed that the black goes all the way down to his tail! It used to just be a black bandana size around his neck but looks like it's getting longer as he gets older ;) He's very unique, huh? haha

He's such a pickle - he amuses me all day long lol

He looks so regal in the 2nd photo and such like a sassy brat Shiba in the last one!

I love how the young Shibas have so much black on their muzzle/lip area.  I look at old pictures of Nemo and wish he still had more black on his face (even though it's not suppoused to be there).

So we took Ryu to a new dog park today - this one is attached to the Hawaii Humane Society. Ryu loved it - We like it because instead of just red dirt and grass, they have mulch and a waterfall! :-)

Here's Ryu enjoying the cool concrete after a Shiba 500 (notice the drool hanging from his mouth? that only happens at the dog parks - do you think it's stress or excitement?):

Here's Ryu saying "Now what do I do with this little guy?":

And this has nothing to do with Ryu but it's a dog getting ready to jump in the pool:

    And some videos:

Some dogs enjoying the water feature (Ryu wants nothing to do with it - big surprise there):

And this one's got nothing to do with the dog park - just a normal daily thing in the Alvarado household:

He is really chill at the dog park, impressive! :c)

I liked the last video, Ryu & Tim were having a blast... He seems very loving too. :c)

Too funny. Shibas can be like complete wild things when you play with them. I have to chase our older Shiba around because he's always inviting me to play with a play bow and a bark. He pretty much refuses to play with his Shiba sister- he doesn't care for dogs [I'm not sure what he thinks he is].

Seriously, that's such an amazing dog park, although the 4-foot slat fence would make me a bit nervous. That somehow seems very Hawai'i to me. :-)

Love the video of Tim and Ryu as well. I don't usually get chased, but I can get my pups pretty hyper but stomping my feet in their direction.

Brad: He was pretty chill yesterday - i was a little nervous because this was his first time to a dog park since the neuter but he was pretty laidback about it all. :D

Patty: Tim thinks he's a Shiba sometimes :) And since he doesn't have a sister yet, we have to do our best to be Shiba-like lol

Dave: I was pretty impressed with it too. That's where Diggah usually goes but it was our first time there. Oh! That tiny fence is just inside the park - there is a small dog area (which to me was just a little maze off to the side of the park) and that fencing is what separates it from the big dogs. For the perimeter of the park, it's not that much higher (about 5 feet i would say) but much sturdier :-) The only thing that worries me is there isn't a double gate entry like most dog parks. You open the gate and that's it - just hope no Shibas are around when you open it lol

Wow that dog park is unreal! Well, for us here, just the notion of dog park would be welcome. I'm thinking of renting a football (soccer for you guys) ring for like an hour so I can let Kuma run of leash and play in a large area.
Ryu is so cute! He was having a blast!

I would love to go to that dog park. The most common things found in our parks here are some agility equipment.

Rui - There's a website I use to help me find dog parks: http://www.ecoanimal.com/dogfun - it's primarily for the US, but I did not notice there were listings for Canada, Australia, and Belgium (basically no help for you on that one). Most of our counties in GA have a website where you can find out park information and amenities. However, when I'm travelling, I've found that site works well in finding a couple of locations to stop and play.

Looks like all the dogs at the park were social and well-behaved. Very nice.

sand!!! he loved it! I love his sesame markings - his back and tail really show it!

I'm the second dog at my house too! I run around much like Tim to help Nemo burn off some energy by running around the apartment.

Yea, it's pretty hilarious - between the two of them, our house is wrecked :-) My big beautiful couches get trampled, slobbered on, and scratched... but to see them do it is so funny :)

Romi and Jen: the day after the sand discovery, Ryu had really "grainy" poop :-O

Pam, have you seen any difference in behavior, at the dog park, since his neuter?

All the pictures are really cute.

Good question! I was pretty nervous taking him to the park and needed some coaxing from Tim. When we got the park, we waited until there were no dogs crowding the entrance before letting Ryu in. This allowed him to sniff around and get comfortable before being invited to play. He was way more laid-back than I've seen him at the dog park before. Granted, this was a brand-new park for us so we don't have past experiences to pull from. From our last visit to a different park, Ryu was overwhelmed and intimidated by crowds of larger dogs. Although this park did have big dogs, they were huddling around the waterfall whereas we entered at the opposite side of the park. After about 3 minutes of sniffing around, he approached several medium sized dogs (no play invites - just introductions) but mostly sat in the middle of the park observing. After some prodding from Tim to "play with the other dogs", he did his normal routine which is "run up to a dog, bark in his face, stick his butt up in the air wagging his tail, bark some more, then take off in the other direction, look back to see if the other dog is chasing him, if not, repeat the process" :P (Side note: Even when Ryu is playing with several dogs, the minute they try to "introduce themselves" by sniffing his behind, he scoots forward and out of the way so they can't sniff him. He doesn't growl or anything but he definitely moves out of the way.... just thought that was a bit interesting since he has no qualms about sniffing the other dogs' behinds) By the time we left, he was extremely comfortable with the other dogs sniffing him and seemed relaxed even when the bigger labs came up to him. Sometimes I think the bigger dogs freak him out at first because he has to crane his neck up to see them when they're right in front of him... But anyway, at the end of the day, there was no growling, not even a moment of tension between him and the other dogs. In fact, I was surprised but when a dog was getting a little too close for comfort, we didn't even have to remove him from the situation - he just calmly walked away and roamed the park until he was ready to play again. I was pretty pleased but we're introducing him slowly back into the parks. I don't want him to get overwhelmed and regress.

WOW Pam! Talk about living in the life of luxury! I really like the padding in the inside! Very cute pic of Ryu and Tim too. Also, it seems like his "member" is much much better!
