Spamage! (part II)

edited May 2008 in General
Took a few more today - playing with the shutter speed (i think that is the correct term) and ISO... not really amazing shots but interesting...

Beautiful dogs, beautiful views! What a perfect place!

I notice that Kona is not so prominent in your pics, but I'm amazed the resemblance to Josephine. I have trouble capturing her on film... seems always to be in motion, and moving fast. How old is Kona now? Size?

I know I've said it before, but I love Hilo!!

I don't intentionally leave him out, he just doesn't photograph well - I'm still getting the hang of it with him.

He is 6 months old and 40lb, solid muscle.

Here are a few shots of him:

Nice Brad! Keep experimenting, that's how you learn.

In this group, I love a lot of them! The actions shots of the pack running around are great! I especially like the second one where Maui is about to get plowed over my Lani (poor guy). The second one of Lani and Kaia is great too. The sunset glow on Lani's fur is awesome (just like it is in the third to last which I think is my favorite!). And Hilo being silly on his back is great as well.

    Thanks for the spamage!

Hey Brad, the pics of Kona are awesome! Thanks for putting them out there! I see he is geting some of the brindle. Is it increasing, or about the same? He is gorgeous!

I know what you say -- For some reason, Josephine does not photogragh well, either (maybe its the (mostly) black dog?). Of course, I'm not so good at leading with the camera with moving subjects, and even when she lies still it seems shes often at odd angles, etc.

Brad: A bit more info. Josephine we guess to be about 15 months now, and seems to be staying pretty steady at around 40 lbs. She did not put on much poundage after about 8-9 months. She went into heat about that age... could have something to do with it, I think... I've heard the hormonal shift may cause changes in growth. She is now spayed, and I have heard some people say that may affect size for a female. Don't really know why that would be. She is very active, and your second, third and fourth pic of Kona looks very much like her. In the first pic, I see the musculature of Kona. Josephine is not so buff, and I will say it seems her fur may be a bit longer than Kona's (would disguise the muscles).

Once again, what a handsome dog! Look forward to hearing more about him as he matures.

All black dogs are hard to photograph. I always had such a hard time getting a good shot of Loki. It probably seemed like I never took pictures of him!

Hey it looks like Maui was running with pack!!! That is awesome!! As usual the Hilo pic melts my heart.

Great pics Brad! I <3 Kona! He is such a handsome little stud! Its amazing that he's 40lbs! That's more than Portia! But I do remember picking him up at the shiba meet and thinking "HOLY COW, THIS GUY IS SOLID!" Great shots of the Shiba's in action! I don't think i've really seen Maui or Kaia really playing as much. The Lani/Kaia pics are really sweet too.

Absolutely wonderful! Be honest, do they ever get in little disagreements? I just can't fathom these dogs getting along so wonderfully, all with such strong personalities. What is your secret Brado. Please tell us all. P.S. Can I have Hilo? :-)

There's going to be a huge dust-up for Hilo. And when that happens, I'm sneaking out with Ahi.

You are getting some really nice pictures. Learning which combinations of shutter speed, ISO and aperture work when, takes some time. What I did for awhile was shoot things in AUTO, read what the camera used, and use those as starting points to adjust so that the pictures were more to my liking.

That third one of Kona is really pretty good, as far as the lighting on him. You can see features on his face.

All the dogs look great, but I think Loa might be stealing the show as the one who is most photogenic.

While everyone is looking for Hilo and Ahi, I'm grabbing Loa.

Brad, don't you just love how we are all planning to descend upon your place and take your dogs? ;-P

Brandon: I might be partial because I plan to own an Akita before a Shikoku, but I'd have to give the photogenic title to Lani over Loa. Both are beautiful and both make great subjects, but Lani's darker fur makes for amazing highlights in the alpenglow. :-)

i got kona! or kaia, its a toss up.

Gonna have to agree Brandon! Loa is stealing the show, but at the same time, they are all beautiful. I'm glad you've got the fence so they can now play without much constraint. I can't even imagine Jake and his wanna be attitude visiting. They would probably kill him. I really must start taking some photos to share my Jake with all.

Your dogs have quite the fan club, albeit a thieving one. ;P

and yet he's invited us to come and stay in the tipi - I fear it is a trap.

lololol Glacier and LJ. Brada must explain his expertise of dog get a long... Yep, makes me want all of them, definitely a disaster in my house, thieving, gotta be a trap!

I will never tell you guys about my plans... How I use my cute dogs to lure people to my Tipi and then make them hang out with me [and not my dogs] for hours and hours... oh wait... shit, I just told you.

Jessica - I think that's more like "running from the pack". lol.

baanton - Female Kai-Ken tend to be less muscular and more feminine than males, so that may be why she is less weight... as for the long hair, parts of Kona's hair is longer and then other parts is shorter. His hair is different from the rest of our dogs.
