Your pack is constant entertaining! They're all great! I love the one of Ahi getting all Bruce Lee on the others, hehehe. Nothing can slow that girl down!
Aha, now I see the real reason Jen does not want that "dirty birdie" Kona to spend so much time outdoors! But looks like Ahi can help to keep the whole house clean with the mop dance! What great videos, so much fun with your dogs-- thanks for sharing!
Lately they have been humping each other a lot... Kona has started to mount Hilo every now and then, which confirms my suspicion that he may be aiming at dethroning Hilo. This concerns me because Kona is pretty mellow but he does have anxiety and that is not what makes for a good leader.
And how does Hilo react to Kona's humping?Does he correct him,or backs off? Do you think Hilo will try to keep his status? And,maybe more important, do you think he can keep it?
and then what about any other males you plan to integrate and keep intact??
dog humping is everywhere. my dogs do it to one another during play constantly and yesterday we dog sat two cairn terriers, and the male kept doing it to the female (both altered) but not to my dogs..
Well, Hilo just ignores it - which I think is how a more "calm assertive" alpha dog would handle it. Kona usually only does it to his side and not his rear.... Kona has started to mature the past few weeks, he seem more interested in his "area".
As for keeping his status, I think Hilo will probably maintain his place in the pack. Kona has always shown submission towards Hilo, so I think that will stay. I think Kona is pushing his weight around a bit to see how far he can push things.
Brad, do you take notes on this stuff? It would make a fascinating book to read your story and your impressions on dog behavior. (If you need a coauthor, to help with the writing and all, gimme a call ;-))
I don't, but maybe I should start... that is really the concept behind my videos... I try to capture most of the behavioral things that are interesting.

Ahi looks great too! She doesn't seem to be slowed down at all. :-)

Kitsune does that rub thing to John's hair (that is kept very short and stubby) He'll get on the back of the couch and go to town! He loves it!
Rui - I said the same thing to Jen, she is like Bruce Lee. lol.. She is pretty amazing, she lives to play... she's like a play expert.
Jen - Ahi rubs on anything... she is so silly. She rubs on my in the morning. lol.
Romi - She is doing a lot better, I'm stoked... tho she will be back under next week. She is gonna end up hating us. (
