The Noble Rottweiler; YouTube video

edited May 2008 in Other Breeds

I know this is about the rottweiler, and such -- but for the most part, what is said in this applies to many breeds we all know and love. I'm so hurt that people put bad raps on certain breeds just because of what individual dogs have done.

My friend just imported a Fila Brasilero from Brazil and I am damn happy for her. The AKC has yet to recognize the breed because they were bred to hunt down and kill animals, and even people. They are an aggressive breed, but her previous dog was a Fila, and he was the most gentle Fila of all time.

Not only that ... but, Rotties have a special place in my heart. My previous dog was half rottweiler, and I miss her so much. I keep coming close to crying every time I watch this video.

... Heres a little dedication for her, of Kenzie. My best friend for a short 5 years. I just wish that she never got that skin disease.

She had to be put down Jan 10th, 2007. I've been restless and depressed ever since that night. And while I have a new dog in my life, theres nothing more powerful than the impact of that she left on my life.

I really like Rotts, but what has been done to the breed is kind of sad. Both from the nowadays irresponsible "breeders" and poor owners that gave them a bad rep, and the people that turned them into oxes. There's a breeders here that breeds Rotts the way they used to be, agile cattle driving dogs. Her dogs weigh 40 to 45 kilos, far from the 55-60 some Rotts get to, and hers have much narrower chests. Her female Shiva is also one of the best obedience dogs in the country and one of the sweetest creatures on Earth.
