Love affair at the Roberts house

So, I've decided that Joey has a bit of a crush on Lucy. About a month ago, Joey started nibbling on Lucy and licking her ears. She would turn her head away and tolerate it for about three seconds before nipping him on the nose. It so reminded me of Brad's video of Hilo and Kaia (included here for context in case you haven't seen it before):





I've been meaning to catch Lucy and Joey on video having their little love fests, but I haven't been fast enough. Well, it seems that Joey is finally winning her over because she now seems to enjoy it. I was actually able to catch it on video today!





On the Lucy front, she is doing a lot better. She's tolerating the new steroids significantly better, although she is still a little bit depressed. Luckily we were able to reduce her dose by half last week and if all continues to go well over the next week, we'll reduce again. Fingers crossed!

    That's Adorable! Joey is grooming Lucy just like a cat would do...You've done a great job with both Dave. Good for you. Joey looks grown. Is he 5 months now?

    Soooo Cute!!! In the Philippines, we would call Lucy suplada (spelling) for bearing her teeth while he's being all cute and sweet. There's not real direct translation. It's a culmination of words in English. A mix of bitchy, aloof, not wanting affection, stubborn, mean. Poor Joey. All love sick and noone to appreciate him.

    Lucy might be in love with her Daddy Roberts. I saw her give some kisses on your knee.

    Joey is 4.5 months. He'll be 5 months on June 20th.

    Barbara: That's a great description! I think it fits her exactly. :-)

    LOL. I think my Daddy can come up with more words that suplada includes. My father and I call my mother suplada constantly, LOL.

    That is too precious. He is definitely smitten with her!! And she is responding very typically of a female shiba! Although, occasionally our shibas reverse their love-fest order where Tsuki is loving on Kitsune and he's not so interested.
    Its adorable.

    Kudos on Lucy's recovery too!!

    That's great that they get along so well. They are best buds.

    Nemo woo's the ladies in a very different, very hostile way. He's the boy who pushes the girl off the swing when he likes her.

    That video is great! It reminds me of Hilo and Kaia too, Joey even does the head rubbing thing where he rubs his head on her. So cute!

    Joey is starting to get his hormones going huh?
    Kuma is too. Luckily (or not, for him) there is no female dog in the house. But it's not the first time he nibbles Nyx's ears and licks them, she gets all wet.

    That is so cute. Lucy: "I'll give you up to a hundred to stop". Joey: "Well, I'm up to 150". Lucy: " Ohh, okay up to 200 then".

    Glad to hear Lucy is on the mend.

    Mochi is also starting to lavish our pup with his courtly graces. Mostly licking the ears and grooming, but occasionally he displays a bit more enthusiasm than Koda feels is appropriate; and then it degenerates into a free-for-all. Good girl. =-)

    OMG - That is sooooo cute!!! Im glad lucy girl is feeling better! Joey is HUGE!!! He looks bigger than lucy, for a moment, I couldn't tell which was which!!!

    Haha. Yeah, Joey is ginormeous. He is noticeably bigger that Lucy now. A good inch+ taller and a lot thicker. She's still longer nose to tail than he is though.

    Since she seems to be on the small side, I don't know if she will stay longer than him, but generally females are longer than males.
