Ameiko (my female akita) is Kitsune's dauther...
And she also go to the trees to take the fruits off trees, since she was a puppy !

(but when she was young, by her breeder, it was not the fruits season...)

Kuma loves fruit. If I'm eating a pear or an apple, he'll just stay there with his eyes on me, just staring. Then I'll tell him to sit or down and give him a bit. Sometimes I mix the apple or pear in his food.

I'm really gonna have to start sharing fresh fruit with The Jake Man. Never had a dog that would eat seafood. Never had a dog that would eat fruit. Gonna have to listen to my dog. I've got granny apples. Let me see if he likes those...

HA! Yes he does, but seems to prefer the gut and not the peeling. Too funny! I love to learn. Thanks!

I don't think the peel and seeds are good for dogs.. the seeds contain cyanide!

I'll usually core and peel the apple and dice it for the pups, pears too!

Apple seeds, as well as almost every fruit pit, contain cyanide that is poisonous even for us, being a popular poison, having even been used for murders. Now, with the peels, I can' see where the problem lies. It's an excellent source of fibre, and around here I've always heard the elders say it's "the soap of the stomach" about apples(this for humans). It seems that an infusion of apple peels is good for the kidneys (this, apparently, for dogs)

the peels they can't digest nearly as well as the flesh, as I understand it, but if you make a smoother infusion of flesh and peel, I'm sure they could digest it much better!

If they can't digest it well, wouldn't it act like fibre to us, and promote good stool volume and do good for bowel movement? Not sure of it, but it seems to make some sense.
