Mylie's new crate

It took her a few days to get use to it, but Mylie is growing more and more fond of her new crate. Tonight, I placed an old towel in the bottom of it, and she jumped right in! Before it was 3 legs, not 4, because she couldn't for some reason, go all the way inside. So I'm sitting here relaxing, Mylie's in her crate and I'm on the couch next to her and all of a sudden...
DIG-DIG-DIG-DIG! SCRATCH-SCRATCH-WOOF-WOOF-WOOF-GRRRRRR...

She's attacking the inside of her crate so intensely that all tiny little 8lbs of her is shaking the couch! I about died laughing. She seems to be having a blast and sees the crate as a new toy... The next time she does this I'll make sure to take video!

I also purchased a taller gate, one she can't jump over, to keep her in the living room at night and during the day while I'm at work. She HATED it at first, but all is good now. She whines for about 60 seconds when I go up to bed, then forgets all about it.

That's great news about the crate... Yep, my girl would sounded like a tasmanian devil in her crate as a puppy. I don't have an photos of that, but it was way too funny as she tried to dig under the news papers and towels. As an adult she does that now with the blankets on the couch when she gets the zoomies. Shibas do have quite the personalities and from what I see of the other asian spitzy breeds on thist list, so do they all! (LOL)

About the baby gates expect the unexpected....you will have to stay one step ahead of the antics and change course if Millie decides to get creative. : )

Oh a kong filled with treats placed in the crate or kitchen with Millie my help ease the transition too. Some people feed their dogs dinner in the crate and that seems to help also. It sounds like things are going well so keep on doing what you are doing ; )

staticnfuzz- Funny story about that, I placed a treat in the little dish the comes with the crate. Mylie ran inside, ate her treat and promptly snapped the little dish off it's hooks, dropped it at my feet and went back in her crate... Apparently, she didn't want it in there!

Too funny! She has her own ideas I guess. (Mine would just chew up the plastic dish that came with the crate so if we feed in them inside we use a regular dog dish.)

We have blankets over the wire crates and we wanted to try them on for size on the outside before removing the tags so we could take it back if we changed our minds. Well the girls decided they didn't like the tags and pulled them off from inside the crate. Nothing more has been destroyed on the blankets so I think the like them and it has been about 6 months since purchase (LOL). They also like to eat cardboard game pieces. Nothing like calling the company to ask for replacements because "our dog ate" major player portions. We got laughed at, but did get replacement items. Other humbling events.....hobbling to the shoe store with foam spilling out of the back of tshoes and clerks look on as you request that they look in the back to see if the same style exists. Explaining that the dog shredded the shoe and you are desperate to find a new pair. (LOL)

oh my goodness! If my shibas have taught me anything, it is not to be so materialistic!!
Everything from a pad of post-it notes to shoes to chair arms to their own collar to pens to picture frames and did I mention shoes?? Today I'm actually wearing a pair of 'shoes' that were at one point crochet boots that had to be down sized to 'booties' due to boot neck shiba damage.. :)
the worst damage wasn't even caused by them, our foster basset chewed major havoc into our bedroom's drywall because of a thunderstorm. ugh.

OH THE SHOES... She can't seem to get enough of them! She chewed up a pair of my flip flops once, apparently she loves the rubber feel on her teeth. I have to make sure to keep them all in the entry way where she's not allowed. The first week I had her she managed to chew up a blue tooth head set! I've learned not to leave valuable items on the coffee table anymore! Aside from that, the most she gets into are cardboard boxes (which she LOVES the destroy) and empty water bottles. Although, if I leave the bathroom door open, she'll steal anything she can find, from bath mats to dirty laundry, towels & shampoo bottles!
