Well, its starting...

Ahi's recovery time meant she was removed from her role as the Alpha bitch. While she was separated from the pack Loa really started to think she was "hot shit", she has been bossing the other pups around more and more.

So we have been introducing Ahi to the others slowly, she has always had contact with them but not in her normal "Ahi" way. We started with Kona...

[I already posted these, but here they are for reference]

Last night was Loa's turn...

Loa was pretty bitchy about it! Kona and Loa were just little pups when Ahi had her first surgery, they have matured a lot since then so Ahi will have to re-establish her dominance [which I am sure she will be able to do].

Luckily Ahi does this with her typical style antics and shenanigans. She does it with play - but you can see, she gets a little rougher than normal every now and then just to remind them how hectic she can be, then she submits as if to say "Hey, no worries, its me Ahi... Remember??".

Its interesting to watch.

Also, today Ahi and Kona got into it. They both have the same level of restiveness to off leash dogs, and Ahi has horrible misdirected frustration when this happens. Jen tried to walk them this morning and Kaya our neighborhood dog friend came to say hi. Well Ahi and Kona both freaked and Ahi got so frustrated she turned and attacked Kona - Kona fought back, but Kona was the one left crying [remember, Kona is a tough cookie - Hilo has all but ate Kona before and Kona hasn't made a sound].

Both of them are ok, no injuries so no worries.

Jen had to carry Ahi back to the house.

    Ahi's back! *sigh*

[I think Kona got the reminder he needed: "Mess with the [Ahi] bull..."]

Had to carry Ahi back because she wouldn't stop freaking out? I think Ahi will be letting everyone know she is back, and that if they try and protest, she will let them know who top dog is.

It's great watching her up and about in videos again, she is easily my favorite in your pack. I want to go to New Mexico to take pictures of her, and then blind you with my flash, and maybe run off with her. Although Ahi and Nemo would never get along.

As for dogs not knowing where to direct their frustration in certain situations, Nemo does that sometimes. I'll be walking Nemo and Whiz, and they will both start barking at something, and almost always Nemo gives Whiz a correction, a quick bite on the neck. Never hard, just like a "hey, I'm barking now, you can later". There is also a house that we walk past a lot with two little terrier muts. They both bark and one of them, always, always goes after the other mid bark.

do you think with all the changes in your pack that Ahi will undoubtadly be able to reestablish herself as alpha bitch? You really don't think she will be challenged or replaced? Because she's been out of the big picture for Loa, Lani and Fuji, right?
