LOL that's great!!! I'll have to dig up the remains of our first hedgehog and post a pic... he was MY favorite toy, but only lasted about 4 minutes in the hands of the doggies! :o)

    That's cute.

It also works really well with the tail of a dead squirrel (that one of the dogs killed)

Wow! I've done that with cats but never with dogs.
Looks like fun, one of these days I'll try it with Kuma. Probably will have to use a whole rabbit or something :-P

kaddy - i bet keiko would LOVE a kitty toy like this!!

brandon - did you let um eat the squirrel?? the fact that the toy is a dead squirrel tail makes that kid's expression hilarious!!!!!

rui - be careful! our shibas jumped like Nemo at first until they were tired! Kuma could do some damage! Thats why I had John start running the carpet with it rather than whip it, because hedgies can't fly.

    Does Hachi just watch?

Turi is the one that caught the squirrel and I'm honestly not sure if he ate it or not. I was told that he guarded it for awhile and was very proud of himself. He caught it while on a tieout, which is pretty impressive. Devon and Bailey (the boys) are very outdoors oriented, playing with a squirrel tail is fairly standard.

Hachi was pretty scared by the toy, so she's watching from under the chair I'm filming from...

thats awesome about Turi and the boys!

That's a great toy! I'm going to have to try it. Our Shibas get all excited about a new toy, but after 15 minutes of play it suddenly goes into the "old" category and they no longer play with it. I go through their toy box every now and then and pull out all the stuffed animal 'old' toys, run them through the washer and dryer and give them to Rescue.

hasha looks like they're having fun. I'd hate to say it [ as I'm not really a cat person ] but when I watch a video like this it reminds me of when kitties play :)~

your red shiba *starter of thread* looks like my puppy but roxy *my puppy* doesn't had nearly as curly of a tail nor as fluffy, is that something that develops later? oh and she has more black on her tail but still looks really close.

I don't know what his tail looked like when he was younger, we adopted him when he was already a bit over a year old, but I imagine that it got fluffier and lighter with age!!

Osy - the shibas really remind of cats sometimes. Today after our chicken drumstick/tripe meal, Hachi was sitting in the living room licking her paws and rubbing her muzzle like a stinkin cat!

lol I guess it really is difficult to describe a shiba huh? A small dog with a big dog personality, but with the habits & cleanliness of a cat :D~

osy - exactly! until you know one, its difficult to really describe it!

we tried it with a different toy to see if Hachi would participate (the pink lamb is her favorite) and she got it first whip, and just took the lamb away, so we untied it, and let it be.

Jen -- what a fun game for the shibas! I say --- go Hachi! It does so remind me of the cats: My daughter's 3 cats (especially the baby, about a year old) love that game --- Megan made a "creature" of some sort (sort of looks like an alligator) made of fairly large beads so there is actually a lot of noise from the "fish" for the kitties to enjoy! Of course, sometimes Josephine tries to enter the game, too. We pull her back because I think she could easily destroy it with her teeth, not mention beads going down the gullet!

Hey, love that background music too! Singer's name/album name? (Well, now I'm showing my age, but you know what I mean!)
