One of those stroies that make you say "AWWW"

edited August 2008 in General
I had the hardest time ever sleeping last night due to some fairly complicated medical issues (long story.) This hasn't happened in the 5 months Mylie has been home with me but for years it was very common to keep me up allllll night. So I knew I had to come downstairs, grab a glass of water, and chill myself out.
Normally when I get out of bed at night, Mylie completely ignores me. I think she's slightly annoyed when I accidentally wake her!
Well last night, around 4am, after no sleep all night, I went downstairs. I laid down on the couch in front of the fan for a few minutes, took a few deep breaths, and relaxed myself. I honestly think that Mylie must have sensed something was wrong. Now, she is NOT a cuddle puppy, she hates to cuddle. Last night she changed her mind, hoped up on the couch with me, tunneled her way between my arms, licked my face, and rested her head on my pillow. I pet her for a few minutes and before I knew it I had fallen asleep.

She woke me up an hour later with loads of kisses, and sent me back to bed :p
It was the cutest thing, & I'm so thankful for Mylie getting me some sleep!

How very sweet of Mylie. Dogs (and sometimes Cats) have great abilities to know what is going on, and do what they can to offer comfort.

I agree, Brandon! They are so intuitive when we need it most sometimes!

    Mylie is a doll!

That is absolutely adorable. Lucy behaved similarly the first time I had a bad migraine around her. She went from hating to cuddle to spending literally hours on the couch with me. Sounds like Mylie is very in tune to you. You guys have a great bond! :-)

Jay never wanted a dog. He did NOT like Moto at all, until he got sick and Moto curled up on the couch with him and didn't leave his side.

The only time Piglet has ever growled at anyone is when I got bitten at the shelter and was home with stitches. Someone tried to carry Piglet up the stairs AWAY from me. She growled and screamed and insisted on sitting ON my feet. No one could take her away from me.

Dogs KNOW when you are weak. And your dogs will always stand by you.

Jessica, the same thing happened with my fiance, Cory. He was attacked by his parents chow chow as a young kid and just had this hatred towards dogs ever since, which was unfortunate. I grew up with dogs all my life, and truly am in love with them. After 4 years of us being together I FINALLY talked him into it. The first night we had Mylie he wasn't feeling well, and she grew immediately so attached to him that she wouldn't leave his side all night, wherever he went, wherever he laid down, she was there, sleeping on his lap. They passed out together on the couch that night and he has adored her ever since. :) He spoils her worse than I do!

That's very sweet of Mylie. Dogs somehow know when you're not in top shape for any reason.
Sometimes they don't even have to know you to stand by you. Last year when we went up north of Portugal to the village of Castro Laboreiro to see the breed by the same name, the breeder told us that a few days earlier a family had been there looking at puppies to choose one. One of the people (I think the mother) had a broken arm in cast, and one of the male dogs immediately took her side that had the broken arms and made sure no one would touch her there. A woman he had just seen.
