It's time we all get serious about our dog gear...

edited August 2008 in General
I mean, come on guys, you never know when you need to Rappel out of an aircraft with your dog. Or need your dog to do "tactical placement" for cell extraction.

Lets just all get extreme and order this for our dogs:

R.E.C.A.L.L. VEST

[R.E.C.A.L.L. vest: Rappel, Extract, Carry, Ascend, Lift, Load.]

Who's with me?

    It's kinda crazy, isn't it?

For some reason I have this picture of Jessica [our resident martial arts expert] in like a black Ninja suit rappelling down a building with Moto, in this harness, attached to her back. lol

    ----

Away, for realz, I think this harness looks pretty good for securing the pups in the car and for our off-lead dog encounters around here:

    NYLON MULTI PURPOSE HARNESS

But Brad!...the first one was so much...cooler :D~

Lol Brad, when it comes time for us to own a dog, we're just going to hand you $500+ and let you buy us everything you think we'd need....ever.

Is there an option on the RECALL harness to install a rocket launcher? If not, I don't want it :-P
  • edited November -1
Rui a nihon ken with a rocket launcher is a really bad idea lol. Just thinking about it scares me. I rather give it to...*whoever you think history's greatest villain is*

I love the recall vest! Years ago (15 or so), when I climbed and rappelled, I would have loved to have had that with me. Although the thought of having a 65 lb. husky strapped to me in addition to my gear would have been a lot to carry.

I like that other harness though - it looks really solid!

    I'm in!!!!!
  • edited November -1
For $225 it better be able to give the dog a bath too.

Damn, they are messing around with either of those vests! In all seriousness though, if you SAR work in serious terrain (like the Rockies) then that harness could be of real use. The field-replaceable IR clips are what got me though. ;-)

    *resident martial arts expert*???

Just cause I can kick YOUR but doesn't make me an expert ;) (A bully maybe, but expert?)

    Moto is our house ninja....

After looking at that picture, I have to admit I do kind of want to jump out of a plane with Miko strapped to my back. I would say Moto, but what good would he do? I would release him, he would run off and find some tupperware to chew on and would NEVER come back. Miko would at least lick my target to death and come when I called (as long as I called her in a cutsey tone and was clapping my hands, that makes me look tough huh?).

And Piglet is freaking heavy. Remember I have been hauling her up and down stairs for weeks. Maybe I should get it just for that.

Jessica - The "resident martial arts expert" was a relative comment. lol

Rui - I'm sure you could rig a rocket launcher on it. lol -or- Maybe even a jet pack!!!

Dave - Seriously, I am with you - I really like that it has handles on each side so if the dog was hurt or needed to be carried over something, you and another person could carry him/her together. That would be a life saver if you were 20 miles up a trail and your dog got hurt - especially if the dog was over 60lb.

    loool! special ops dogs!

Are you guys like me and the idea of putting ultra-gear on your dog in public sounds fun? You know, just do people THINK your dog is a supertrained dog agent?

    definitely Heidi!!! :D

LOL, that looks like Kuma when I pick him up to put him in the car. Thinking of it I wouldn't be happy if a guy 5 times my size was picking me up by putting a hand between my legs.

Brad - by the looks of the harness, it would have to have a Gatling gun on one side and a rocket launcher on the other. G.I.Pup!

The factory that makes those is in Virginia... Maybe I should take Bella and get her suited up. :) They also have a bullet-proof canine body armor. How awesome!

    Wow.~

Well, it's no "R.E.C.A.L.L. VEST", but did anyone notice Ruff Wear has a new harness for climbing:

    Ruff Wear DoubleBack™ Harness

Looks kinda cool, thinking of getting one for Kona (no, I still have not purchased a "R.E.C.A.L.L. VEST" for him).

    ooh that's cool!!!!!

The Recall Vest should have been called the Recon Vest.

I got that email today too. I like the new Sqwash toy!
We'll stick with the Webmaster :)
  • edited November -1
Oh yea, the Sqwash toy looks perfect for Hilo given his teeth issues. We want to order one for him.

I think probably mine need the Gourdo...and the boot-socks are on sale, too. We just use my daughter's old mismatched socks with Rei.

Sukoshi says she doesn't want the RECALL Vest unless it comes in woodland green camo for night forest operations or royal purple for very formal occasions (as in reviewing parades). She says these are good "colors" for black and tan Shibas.

Actually I recently bought a simple "rogz" harness for her because the other harness restricted her movement too much. The rogz "Trixie" harness is one that the dogs step into w/ front feet and then the two parts of the harness come up and snap together at about the withers. There's a ring on each side of the snap to attach the leash. Hopefully, this will work better for her. It has reflective stitching for safety at night.
