ATL Shiba meetup 9/21/08 (high bandwidth)

edited September 2008 in Shiba Inu (柴犬)
A few photos from yesterday's Shiba meetup in Atlanta. The meetup was at Top Dogs Pet Boutique. We were in a pretty cramped room in the back. I think we probably had about 15 shibas and two other breeds in that tiny room with all their humans. There were definitely some snarkies going on! As LJ said yesterday, Jazz was "in a mood" at the beginning, but she calmed down really well later on and even had a reciprocal sniff with Joey! :-)

I was SUPER proud of how well Joey did. He played with all the dogs and managed to get everyone in the room to treat him repeatedly just by sitting patiently in front of them. Yeah, he had a little diarrhea last night. :-/ I was most impressed by his confidence. There were some pretty badly behaved dogs in there and Joey just completely ignored them, even if they went after him. Unfortunately, Lucy isn't quite off exercise restriction yet so she had to stay home. One more week for her!

The room was completely yellow and brightly lit with fluorescent lights so a lot of my shots were over exposed. Live an learn I guess. Here are some of the better ones:

This is an American Eskimo who became instant buddies with Joey:

Niko looks a bit psycho in the pic with Joey, about accurate! And then (my) Sasha being so cute in the random pics!
    Joey was very good.
There was one dog that basically tried attacking all the dogs, even my Sasha.
And Dave-Little Sasha was not misbehaving, she was attacked and then reactive, even to Niko her BFF. She was scared.

I think my favourite is the one with Sasha at the back, out of focus, where Niko and Joey are "arguing".
She seems to have this expression of "should I join in?"

Rachael, I know she wasn't misbehaving, but "she was attacked and then reactive, even to Niko her BFF. She was scared" makes for a pretty crappy picture caption. :-P

Poor little Sasha (which is Shiba Sasha, not Rachael's Sasha) - at least she did get a chance to play. Jazz had some major issues when we got there and it took her longer than usual to calm down. It was a good meet, but the room was super tiny for all of us to be in there - next time, I'll get somebody to swing by and take a look at the size of the room.

Hey LJ did you ever found out what kind of dogs that guy brought to your show?

No, I didn't - Don didn't email me back. Thanks for reminding me - I'd forgotten about it while I was in NC.

Marley's such a goof. He really doesn't like the meetups, I'm not sure what his life was before his rescue, but I don't think it was gentle. The one thing he is nuts about is a laser pointer. At the last meetup, Chad brought his pointer and was showing it on the wall. Marley overcame his fear of a bridge apparatus to chase the laser pointer. It was really will to watch.
