Missouri Spam :D
Doesn't quite have the same ring as Hawaii Spam
We took Ryu on a hike last Saturday through Ha Ha Tonka State Park... Everyone else has recovered but my calves are STILL screaming!
Here's the spam:
Remember that structure we were posing in front of in the first couple of pictures? Yea, this is how far we hiked down (and had to go back UP!):
Fun times!

There has got to be a shiba meet up near you! Did you check meetup.com?
You can also post a shout out on dogster.com's shiba forum, I'm sure there are close members to you!
Ryu looks great as usual!
Rui I don't think you are crazy. I love landscapes full of trees and rolling hills. Driving north through Wisconsin you get a lot of landscape like that also.
I like Ryu ontop of the stump.
Jen: I never thought about dogster but I am a member of the Missouri meetup ... however, the organizer and other members are in Kansas City which is about 4 hours away from me so I can't make it to most of the dog park meetups Maybe if we make a weekend trip out of it, the drive would be worth it....but thanks for the idea about dogster!!!
Casey: Ryu is OBSESSED with his yard. He'll go to the back door, bark twice so I'll open it. Then he'll do some laps, dig up a bone, re-bury it somewhere else, sniff his poop spots, chat with the collie next door, then come back and bark twice at the door to tell me to let him back in. This happens about 5-6 times a day LOL Most of the time, we'll let him out and then forget and when I open the door, he's curled up on the grill cover taking a snooze. I'll open the door wide and say, "Wanna come back in?" and he'll just lay his head back down like, "You woke me up for that?!"
Rui: you're not crazy We like it better too! We went to another state park today (Osage Beach State Park) and did this really neat hike by the lakeside. Imagine walking on the incline of a mountain for 2 miles - I thought I would slip at any moment. It was beautiful though. The leaves are starting to change colors (which we missed SO much while living in Hawaii) and the lake was gorgeous. Ryu was a trip. He has to be in front all the time. So, we get to a dead end in the trail and you could either go left or right. Both ways had cleared paths so it wasn't obvious which way we were supposed to go unless you saw the sign with the arrow. Ryu's in front so he just automatically turns right at the sign and we laughed because it really looked like he read the sign! I'm sure he was just following the scent of earlier hikers but we thought it was hilarious
Thanks Dorothy We like that picture too - he's such a sucker for the camera
