Poor Niko!
She HATES her canny collar and now when Chad asks if she wants to go for a walk she runs. Chad asked just now and she ran right to me. I grabbed her and was petting her so he didnt have to chase her. She was shaking! Chad just put on her regular training collar and she was still shaking. She put her head into the couch cushions trying to hide. She then looks at me with the most pitiful eyes. THEN she jumped on the couch (she NEVER does that without being invited) and burrows into me. I dont try to coddle her and she hardly ever gets scared but my heart melted!! My poor baby. Chad then took her and she realized that she wasnt going to have to wear the canny collar and she was all excited to go for a walk.
I love that monster!

Get some HIGH VALUE treats. Get her in a sit. Give her a treat. Pick up the collar. Give her a treat if she doesn't run when she sees it. Stop for the day.
Then the next time, let her just hang out with the collar treating and praising her. Still not putting it on her.
Then holding a treat through the collar work on enticing her to put her head in the collar. Treat and praising the heck out of her. Just let her walk around with the collar on and the leashing hanging, praising her and treating. Give her an "eh eh eh" if she tries to rub it off, but as soon as she stops treat and praise.
Keep these sessions limited to 10 minutes.
You should be able to get her to like it in a week or two.
Just like in crate training, you want her to start to equate the collar with positive fun happy things. Even though she LOVES walks, it may not be incentive enough.
Hope this helps.
We tried a Canny Collar on Hilo, he hated it. Hilo thought it was stupid, he feels the same about training class. We think we got the wrong size for him tho, he needs a smaller one. We were testing it in preparation for our COs, Jen thought it may be a good tool to control them on walks.
If Chad wants to experience real pulling, next time he is in town we can go for a walk and he can walk Hilo, Ahi and Kona. I think after that he will forgive Niko for her pulling. )

Brad-Yes, Niko still pulls like crazy. The canny collar is great and works well, Sasha doesnt mind hers at all. Just anything that is put on Niko to her is a no no. They are hard to fit. Niko has the smallest one, which we had to special order (we had to return the first one). Dont feel sorry for Niko! You know what a monster she is! She will be so excited to see you guys. Everything is beneath Hilo, how dare you think he needs training OR a collar! : )
