My first animation!

edited October 2008 in General
This is my first true hand-drawn animation. I'm so excited, I drew it this weekend. 8)

If you hate the quality, I have a better version on my deviantART;

This weekend was boring, so I pulled out my new Animation book and got to work. I drew about 30 frames, but compiled them in Flash and modified a few frames. Its supposed to be a Shiba Inu doing a basic walk, and then turning into a 'run' and coming towards the 'screen' I think it was good enough for a first actual animation. xD ( I only ever animated a little before ;) )

Overall, I think it went well, I could've used a little more inbetweeners to transition the angles, but considering how fast it runs, you can barely tell.

    Ok. you have totally lost me on how this would be done. But it is very cool, and looks like it would be fun to do! Thanks for sharing, and I'm eager to see more.

    Cool!
    I think it's a good job, for a first time! Keep it up!

    how it would be done? xD Do you mean, how I made it? I got like 20+ pieces of thin computer printer paper, then referenced to an animation book for the basic walk positions, then changed it up ( head turn/blink + the angle shift to the jump towards screen ).

    I just drew them onto the paper, put another piece ontop and drew through to keep a similar scale.

    Thanks for the explanation, Steph... you make it sound so easy, but would not be for me! Anyway, great first attempt, and I, for one, will be eager to see more!

    Well, it did take me two days, so it wasn't very easy. But, I started drawing it before I went to probably the most amazing/inspirational person ever's presentation. :0 Which inspired me to finish it.

    To those who know a lot of cartoons, i'm referring to the man who created the Kids Next Door ( and Kenny and the Chimp, which was his original idea + pilot ), and did the Character design for Pepper Ann. Tom Warburton; he's a Kutztown Alumni, and he visited us on Friday. I got his autograph and a drawing and everything. Totally made my weekend amazing. 8)

    Very nice Steph! I really like how you made the tail flatten a bit when (s)he started running. :-)
