Brad: Thanks for sharing the pics and the video of Luytiy. He seems like he is getting into his protector role more and more. The "little big" boy is becoming a man, I guess! He is becoming more beautiful as time goes on, and I love his purposeful guarding that you describe. Sounds like he goes about his business to establish whether there is a real threat before making the real big fuss in hopes of scaring that threat away!
He is gorgeous! I had to review this post. He has matured a lot. His bark is even deeper. I'd be scared. Plus, he is probably bigger than me. lol. He'd knock me over in a quick second.
Seems like he's doing a great job. Who is that in the background barking? lol. I like how he doesn't pay attention. He's so in charge.
Brad, he is beautiful and filling out nicely!!! I certainly can see the difference in Luytiy guarding vs. Keigo guarding. L does get visibly pissed where as Keigo seems to be concerned but not as intense - no marking with Keigo, just a need to keep me safe...unless the potential threat is in the house. Then Keigo has to be outdoors.
Kaia is the shit! LOL. It's so funny how she rules the bigger dogs! Masha has grown so much!!! I look back at the pic of when you and Jen visited her when she was a pup - it's crazy how much she's grown from that little ball of fluff!
Masha is 80lb now, she is getting big, I think she may end up being as large as Luytiy. We expect Masha to finish around 120lb.
Luytiy is 130lb - 140lb, he is still filling out.
It's so funny to me how Kaia plays only with the largest dogs. She's a trip. She's always beat'n on the big dogs. Luytiy will not enter the house if Kaia is sitting int he door way! LOL. She's a tough little thing.

Shigeru - I think that sounds like a good deal. Now we just have to master the cloning thing...
----
JiroGo - I prefer the darker CO too... well the Darker brown/red COs. The dark grey COs tend to look too much like Sarplaninacs to me (long pointy noses). I LOVE brindle COs, they are the coolest.
With Masha, she was a temperament purchase and not a "looks" purchase. Her temperament is perfect, she amazes me at how balanced she is. Her looks have really grown on me too, most of these pics make her look washed out a bit, her color is actually darker red in person. Masha will continue to darken up as she matures.
I have to admit, I am moving more and more toward the CO breed. I really like them, they may have moved passed Akita in my fav. breed list. *maybe*
As for CAO, I love that breed. I was going to get a CAO for hiking with but the CAO breeding community is not great here so I passed (and went with a Cane Corso instead). Also CAO can tend to be very quarrelsome, which is something we don't need. Man would it be cool to hike with a 32" 200lb CAO. LOL.
I can't blame you for moving towards the CO's rather than Akita, they are just amazing. If I could afford one I'd get one right now, but there are very few in the UK, they are small and look to be poor quality, and you still can't get one for less than £2000. If money wasn't an issue the CO would be next dog without a doubt!
I like the CAO's almost as much but I don't think they are as good looking as the CO. I would happily settle for a CAO but again very few and very expensive.
I'm going to be saving for a long time until I see that dream materialize!
I have been trying to take better pics of Masha to show her color. Here a few from today, she is a little dirty in these tho...
I find her hard to shoot. She never stays still and she is kinda awkward so the angle I shoot her at changes her look a lot. also the camera tends to wash out her red coat and make her nose look big. LOL. I am struggling to get really nice pics of her. The muddy face doesn't help either. hehe.
Wow... I must have been asleep over the past few week... Masha has GROWN!!! She is no longer the pup with the crazy hair-do! She has turned into such a lovely lady.

She will just be laying in the yard, by herself, chewing on a stick, and barking! AT NOTHING!
Her breeder told me that he mother is a barker too, so we know where she got it from.

He's looking a lot more powerful too!
Some Masha action-shots (Kaia and Masha have been playing a lot lately)...

I'll send you a Haru clone and you send me a Masha clone, okay, Brad?
