So I learned that "Luitiy" means "ferocious" in Russian... So I guess Luytiy's name is a play off that... or maybe the breeder spelled it wrong. Who knows. Our behaviorist looked it up and told me about the meaning.
He has such an expressive face. Almost saying "I love you" and at the same time to intruders "stay away from my people/dogs because I will cause damage!"
Awwww... any dog that adorable is misnamed as "ferocious". Even in that first pic it looks like he's smiling as he strides around the boundary ---- guess the name may have been a mistake or someone who did not know the language! Fun to see him "kissing" Kona with that Central American style (or is it Russian) greeting type kiss (although Kona does look slightly annoyed!)! Thanks for sharing these pics --- Luytiy is a looker! He looks very majestic and "in command" of his territory in the last one, by the way.... Maybe Czar Luytiy would be a more appropriate way to address him (LOL!)...
He is a big teddy bear, most of the time. Trust me tho, he can be a scary dude... you don't want to be on that receiving end. He also has a very intense look, when he looks directly in your eyes there is always a uncomfortable moment of uncertaintanty.

The first and last pic are good examples of why the southern Rockies in this area are called "The Sangre de Cristo Moutains" - they turn red like that at sunset. Pretty cool!
We got Masha! she is super cute, she's really chill too. she has done great with Luytiy and Kahuna. she plays a lot with Kahuna but snuggles a lot with Luytiy. She is also really good with people.
right be for we got her she had a little accident. she snuck out of her kennel with one of her litter mates and got into something. unfortunately she ended up with some scratches on her head and back which caused her to get a little fungul infections, so we are treating her for that now, but she is fine.
she is a lot like Ahi in temperment, plays rough, gets kinda moody, and likes to play a lot. however she is rather snuggley, which is nothing like Ahi.
I took some pics of her, i posted one from my cell phone on my Flickr page. you can see it on my account page on the forum too.
I'll post more when i am home in January and can use my PC.
I commandeered my dad's PC for a sec so I figured I would embed this pics of Masha:
She really lightened up in color, but her face is still the same... she has a really nice feminine face. She's a crazy puppy too, she has already fallen in my parents pool twice! lol
Ok, we got Masha home. The integration has gone well, the only issue we have had is between her and Fuji, which is super surprising. We thought Loa and Masha would have some issues but they are like BFFs... we NEVER expected Fuji to have an issue, but she will come around... She just over corrects Masha a bit. This is an interesting thing we have learned over time, younger dogs [like Fuji] don't know how to treat puppies, they don't understand how much to correct and what to correct for. Loa, on the other hand, has experience with several puppies and knows how to deal with them properly. Fuji will learn, Masha [and us] will teach her.
Masha is a real handful, she is pretty tenacious and loud. She also sucks at potty training - she is mos def not a Nihonken. *sigh
I have some video but I need to get it all off the cam. Here are some pics tho...

I'll post the videos when I have them up on YouTube.
We had Luytiy with us when we picked up Masha. So he got to see his previous owner, Masha's breeder [Stacey]. Jen and I [and our low self esteem] where concerned that he would see Stacey and not want to leave - making us feel like bad parents. It couldn't have been more different than that - he acted like he had never seen Stacey before! We were stoked, it made us feel a lot better.

I have not shared this with the forum yet, but Luytiy and I had a rough start. He charged me aggressively 3 times [growling, showing teeth, hackles up, head low, fast moving] - it was very hectic and made me fear for my life a bit. I consulted with a behaviorist and just took things back to the basics - treating him a lot and playing games with him.
Before our trip I had made good progress, but nothing amazing.
Well on our trip we had a turning point, Luytiy fell in my parents pool and got tangled in the floating cover. I had to pull him out, he was struggling towards the end and a bit panicked. After I got him out he ran away from me and ignored me for a few hours, then he started being very interested in me. Now he is my buddy and plays with me the way he does Jen! [all dogs love Jen, not me so much]
I guess I just needed to save his life to gain his respect. lol

I'd say if Fuji is your only probably out of the 11 (is it 11? I can't keep track anymore) dogs you have then her introduction has gone perfectly!
