Wow --- thanks for sharing the link. These are awesome! Little bit more traditional look of a U.S. dog show...

question - black and tan show shibas - do they breed for shorter, bushier tails? hachi has a distinctively shorter tail - lays on her back but is not long enough to double curl - she was meant to be a show dog (i guess) so she's all the puffy beautiful of the first shiba pic on the list and has a similar tail (and Jazz too, right?). Just wondering.

And the more I see pics of Kai, the less I'm inclined "to want". Weird, right? But Kishus on the other hand... love the Kishu!

    ETA: Thanks for sharing!!!!!!

When I was at the local show a couple of months ago, most of those show shibas had tails more like Hachi and Jazz than like Toby & Joey. I don't know why or if it's preferred - I don't quite get the difference between the ones that placed and the ones that didn't. Several of the non-placee's looked much better than the ones that placed.

Thanks for sharing Corina. I've always been partial to the black sesame Shikoku from the start, but the color quality is so vibrant and flashy in some of those red sesame Shikoku, it's really growing on me!

    Thank you Corina,
Those pictures look great! Where did you get that picture of Shiba-cuteness? That shiba looks a lot like Ichi! Also, was that kid practicing to show his puppy or was there a puppy show too?

Hmmm...not sure about Shiba tail length between colors and showy type. Maybe someone else here can answer?
Hahah...maybe you get your Kai fix strictly from the photos. One can't really help what breeds or dogs they fall for. I enjoy a lot of different breeds but find that some I can just admire whilst others I just HAVE to own! Like it's a NEED, lol.

Oh my goodness, Kelly...I was so excited at being surrounded by so many Shikoku and fascinated by their vast coloring. More so last year (2007) then the year before (2006).

Oh yeah...lol. Jesse, the "Shiba Cuteness" and "Shiba Icon" is actually a puppy I had looked at in 2005. I really wanted to get that Shiba pup, but when I went back for him..to my disappointment he had been sold! Yeah...so I ended up with a Malinois and then a Shikoku instead.

The kid at the show was practicing I guess. The people there were entertained and thought he was cute!

=(^-^)= I'm glad everyone is enjoying the photos! Your welcome!

btw, is it just me or do the Shika look extra thin? :o ~

I personally think those Shikoku are in excellent condition and not too thin.

Miko is that thin. And not for lack of eating. Just youthful gangliness.

Those pictures are great! Thank you for sharing them with us.

Thanks for sharing! Loved looking at the photos too.

Kuma also looks similar to those Shikoku. He does eat, but he is not a big eater. And he is growing.
