I love the 2nd to last pic. Not to be biasis (sp?), but I do seem to favor the Sesame Shibas. I like all Shibas but I go through color phases from Red to Black and Tan and now Sesame (<--- maybe cause of the Shikoku????), lol.

Great photos! Awesome video! Of course, I do always enjoy a good feline mixed in -smiles-.

I should be going to the vet tomorrow, so I'm gonna weigh all 3 of the pups!

For some reason, I always favored the Sesame Shiba. They aren't too dark, they aren't too light. I do really want a nice red with urajiro someday, as well. But, Toby is super unique. You never know what you're gonna get with the Sesames. They could be super dark sesame or lighter sesame. They're all so beautiful. :)

I think Toby just gets darker and darker. The ones that really show his fully colour are the ones before the sun rises. I got overexposure on my photos and the ISO was auto and kept screwing up.

I really wanted a Red Sesame Shikoku at first, but I might be better off getting a black sesame one instead. Idiots might get my doggies mixed up if I get a red sesame shikoku. ;)

He looks so Shikoku to me! He is so cute!

"I swear someone stuck a Shiba face on a Shikoku body"

that is exactly what I was thinking!!! Toby is so handsome! Are you on break now with lots of time to spend with him? :)
  • edited November -1
Yup, i'm on break until Jan 12th. :)
Theres a Shiba meetup on the 10th of Jan, I was gonna try to attend it. I just started talking to the person who started the meetup, and she said that part of Philly is rather safe. I might give it a shot, then. ;) I should invite her to the forums!

Toby wakes me up every morning, licking my face. This morning, they put the gate at the bottom of the steps, and when Toby heard me waking up, he stood there at the bottom of the steps and whined. I just don't want him in my room cause theres stuffed animals everywhere, and I have my computer wires and stuff all over the floor. I wish my bed was a desk. :(

Steph where in Philly is it? I used to live in Philadelphia and know the city well.

    Schuylkill River Dog Park
    25th and Spruce
    Philadelphia, PA 19103
  • edited November -1
I haven't been there, but I know the area of 25th and Spruce and it's not a bad place. It's above Rittenhouse Square. I used to work at 22nd and Locust and it was a nice place and that is only a few blocks from there.

Hope you and Toby have fun at the park!

oooh. I will have to try and get there sometime, then! :)

It snowed a little this morning! So, I shoved Toby outside and let him play in the snow for a bit. I wish it'd snow a lot, he loves the snow.

And a little video. ;) Note how quick he responds to the 'magic' word. He never listens to come and come here, so someone suggested I choose a word that I never use, so I chose Trick! He always comes when I say the word, because he knows that when he comes inside, he gets something yummy and delicious. :D

What is it with Shibas and their inability to listen to 'normal' words like no and come. But they respond brilliantly to 'aht' and 'trick'?

And Toby playing in the snow is too cute. :) I have said it before, but I will say it again... I adore his tail!!!

He is so big and cute and loveable! I need to try a new word, Sake is ignoring all of mine now...Ahhh, Shibas.

Ahhh, Shiba in the snow. :-)

Today was totally awesome! I figured I would make the pack heavier for him and try it out, since hes almost a year old ... and wow. Did not even phase him. I put a good 2-3 extra pounds into the pack and he still pulled like a beast. I really have to work on his leash walking a bit. I use the pack because it does calm him down on walks. Otherwise he's leaping into the air trying to grab every squirrel and rabbit that crosses his path. :( Which I do not enjoy.

Toby got weighed today! 8) He is now 37 lbs. haha.
  • edited November -1
Wow! What a big boy! :D & they say Shiba weigh in at a max of 25 pounds :p

I think he's got some shikoku blood in there lol~
  • edited November -1
Well, theres still Shiba out there larger than him, but he's up there. There were a few bloodlines of Shiba, i'm pretty sure one of them was larger. And generally, poor breeding brings along funky sized Shiba, small or super sized.

    ...

    There are shiba...

    BIGGER than TOBY?! OMG. Wow.

Are they still technically Shiba? 45llb shiba lol ~
  • edited November -1
We had a cream 45 lb shiba come to one meetup - his name was Alfie. That guy was masive.
  • edited November -1
WOW! I want to meet a shiba that big! hehe ~

Toby has gotten -very- calm. Like, he sleeps all day long and is actually kind of lazy. :) heehee.
He also filled out a lot, and his heavy coat came back. He blew his coat a 2nd time ( a month ago ) and then his full coat came back.
  • edited November -1
I love Toby's cinnamon bun tail!
  • edited November -1
He sure has filled out a lot.
  • edited November -1
    yay! Toby spam!

He did fill out! But, so did Kitsune once he hit 18-24 months or so, and then the full winter coat makes them appear much more plushy than they actually are! Northern (residing) dogs and their winter coats, I love it.
Your parents are going to have a super fun time when he blows that coat :))
  • edited November -1
Beautiful Toby! He has grown up to be a handsome guy. :)
  • edited November -1
I was actually kind of surprised as how plushy and soft he was, though he is stinkier than usual. :) I think the smell stayed in him because it has been muddy/rainy around here lately.
I only notice because I cuddle with him, but my parents say he doesn't smell! heehee.

It is like a Blizzard today and Toby was soo hyper and excited to go outside that he had to get crated. Otherwise he just stands at the door whining and ringing the bell on the doorknob.
