GREAT morning!!

edited November 2008 in General
This morning was GREAT! I've been in a real funk lately (not sure why) and this morning really snapped me out of it.

Let's see......The kids were with my mom, and the hubby was in bed sick. (poor guy has a stomach virus thing going on.)

After doing everything I could to make the hubby as comfortable as possible I went into the kitchen to grab some grocery bags. Honey knew what that sound meant!!! WALK TIME!!!! She comes prancing into the kitchen ready for her walk. I grabbed the leash and bags and we were out the door. Instead of our normal walk which is about half a mile with several large hills.....we decided since I didnt have to worry about getting back to the kids, and the hubby wasn't going anywhere, I phoned home and he was already asleep.....we would just walk where ever the wind took us. We walked ALL OVER our little town. We went up and down streets that we've never walked before. Honey got to smell TONS of new scents. There were a TON of dogs out in yards wanting to meet Honey, but we needed to keep it moving! lol It was GREAT!

I know, I know.....what's the big deal right? I mean it was JUST a walk. With me being in such a bad place emotionally I REALLY needed this walk. It was just Honey and I. No worries. No concerns. Just me and my AMAZING pup.

*sigh* Everyone needs a Nihon Ken in their lives. Just for days like this.

They are cool dogs, aren't they? They make things better.

I lost my solo role I would've had today due to a lack of voice. It's still not 100% after two weeks, and I'm bummed. I was given a master class with the company's Artistic Director though, (I mean how often do you get a free hour or more master class from the person who chooses the roles in your company? It's like an audition cheat sheet!) and that's cool, but it's not my first role. I came home last night very late and Tosca was there to greet me. She's so happy when I get home and that made it a lot better. I'm pondering bringing her to the opera house today, but I think my dad may miss her company. We'll see. The problem with having only one dog is that my father and I have to share.

How wonderful. What a perfect way to spend your morning. I'm jealous (at work on Sunday).

Katie, I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes its nice to be with your loving companion and nobody else.

I've been really busy and stressed with work lately, working long hours, getting too little sleep. When the pups woke me up at 8:00 yesterday, I decided I was going to take a day completely off and spend it with the dogs. After answering some overdue emails for an hour after our morning walk/feeding ritual, I showered, changed, and off we went to the park. We spent two hours just wandering around, stopping to role in the grass together, talking to random strangers, and trying (unsuccessfully) to get Joey confident enough to walk through the market. After that we circled back and spent an hour and a half at the dog park. Joey was his typical playful self and Lucy was content to hunt dirt the whole time. Before leaving, I had a nice chat with a couple that had a friend looking for a Shiba puppy and I was able to convince them they needed to dissuade their friend from getting a puppy from Lucy's horrid breeder.

We came home, rested for a bit, then both dogs got a bath and a furminator treatment (and plenty of treats). Then we all sat on the couch and watched movies for the rest of the night.

I feel reset. So...you aren't along Katie. The nihon ken have a power to help us replenish. You just have to learn how to tap into it. Sounds like you did. :-)
